    Ok, I got the new gaskets in the mail today. I went to put the gears in the box so everything is together and for the life of me can’t tell the difference between sides. What’s the front and why?     custom bumper, 2 inch lift, header, custom intake, custom flared fenders
    OK finally able to report driving experience after two tanks of gas (truck is not driven much) so the lowend grunt is fantastic and traction control now hates life with my driving habits... I love it. Unfortunately it took until the second tank of gas to get my foot out of it enough to see any improvement on mileage. If the truck sits on cruise and is 70 or below i can eeek out 17.5-18 mpg which is an average increase of 1.5-2 however if i set cruise at 80 or have ANY head wind its a wash and the mileage is the 15-16 it was getting before the gear swap. Overall the shift of the powerband towards the low-mid range was enough for me to be happy.

    Yours have the bevel on the keyway I machine.
    You will NOT be using the keyway with the dot on it. The bevel (slight angle on my machined keyway) goes towards the engine to aid with install

    gonna +1 this.... i spent probably 20+ min trying to get all the colored links lined up and then said eff it. Crank lines up as do all the marks on the cam gears which is what matters. Pulled em off and swapped em.

    Naw they have been in for quite a bit, zero issues! I just like to go through this thread from time to time!

    But yeah, dont bother trying to line up the links colors. Cams spin half as fast as the crank, so you have a 50/50 chance. Set crank to 0, look, do marks line up? Nope, spin one more rotation and ill bet you they do!.

    Lol, I reasoned this out in my mind and went for it when I did mine. Then like an idiot had a panic attack when I went to line up the other side knowing it’s an interference engine and thought I may have smashed the valves rolling it over.

    Haha.... yeah. Im 99% positive i got my cam gears in facing the right way... but i failed to take any pics after the install to reference so .... i might end up popping valve covers n check so i can sleep at night.
