It’s a pain, but not super hard. Just remember that rear pipe has a lot of range of movement. I usually stick the 10mm studs from the pump into the pipe, and try to pull it up and over the stud on the valve cover.

That’s about what I used and when it broke free I thought I broke off the head of the bolt.

Looks like I'll finally jump into this this weekend.

@Turdyota3000 you got me thinking I need to double check my valve cover gaskets! I haven't looked at the ones I was sent since receiving them months ago, and even then I didn't really look at them. they were just sent in the box. No bag w/ part numbers. I'll look when I get home, but is there obvious differences I'll see comparing them to each other?...as in, as long as they don't look identical to each other I'll know once I go to install them.

Since everything is opened up to do this mod, what maintenance can I have done at this current time? I suppose I can do the valve cover gasket as its a part that installs right back into place. Anything else as I will consider doing this mod and want to get new parts in as well. I figure it I will have the Tacoma apart, I don't want to replace old parts back in when I can easily change them out with new ones.

I'll probably have a professional do this for me as I don't have time to do it myself.

I have 115k on my Tacoma currently.

    Mostly basic stuff.
Spark plugs, clean throttle body, clean maf sensor. You could check valve clearances but your mileage is "low" enough where I doubt they are outta spec

I've had a local dealer mess up valve cover gaskets twice now in random bags with no labels. The two are very different from each other, so if they look the same it will be a problem.

They looked similar enough to me to give me an oh shit moment initially before fully laying them out lol. But part numbers are actually printed on them. Different overall lengths too. Here’s pictures for the thread anyway.
