just saw this on the way home from work.

Now I was taught that if I was going to tow a vehicle, tow with the drive wheels up and the to ther wheels on the ground. Is this guy going to ruin someone's nice Camaro?

Whoa. I can't speak for newer cars but back in the day (ten years ago) I recall reading that if you couldn't lock the steering column and tow it backwards, you could disconnect and tether the drive shaft.

I'm betting those cars were previously stolen and just purchased at auction.

Those contract transporters don't care because they know the cars have salvage titles. The cars will be sold at a discount price. Profits are very slim. If you can haul an extra car per trip, you up your profit.

I'm one if the people that buy those salvage titled vehicles. I'm aware if this practice.

Long distances, if you have to pull like this you should pull the driveshaft. Doesnt matter whether it is manual or automatic.

Accurate, just stating what should be done. Very important in heavy trucks with air brakes.

Can't see the pic at work, but sometimes the auto trans can be disconnected. I used to go to police auctions and that was not uncommon to find.

Its not disconnecting the trans, its allowing the transmission to be put in neutral without keys.
