re-installing bad BJs is pointless. May as well delay the install of your new UCAs untill you can install new BJs into your new UCA arms.

Lower ball joints? You can buy OEM ones from Toyota without needing to buy the LCA.

Will the Camburg Ball Joint UCA's work well with Icon Extended Travel Coilovers?

for the ball joint-normal EP (extreme pressure) grease, like you would use for U-joints, ball joints; usually contains moly additive.
for the bushings i believe its silicon based; comes with kit.

I contacted both wheelers off-road and camburg...

camburg - "The factory OEM Toyota are the BEST & highest ball-joints to use and that's what we designed our arms to use. Any aftermarket versions are much lower quality but will work. Their quality control is also sub-par so you could run into a problem with them not pressing into our arms correctly as they are slightly oversized. You can turn them down on a lathe real quick to make them work.

If you don't want to go through the fitment issues with the aftermarket joints you can buy them through Wheelers Offroad already installed."

WHEELERS- "If buy a set from us with the moog ball-joints, from then on the Standard Moog replacements will be compatible. "

Wheelers - "There are not a lot out there.(Aftermarket ball joints) I think Rabestos also makes replacements that would work. "

I'm assuming wheelers modifies the uca to fit aftermarket Moog ball joints.

only problem is you cannot purchase just the BJ from Toyota, you have to purchase the entire UCA, even if you just tear a boot; no replacement boot available.

The Moog joints are greasable, Toyota's I believe are sealed, no grease nipple is available.

So I ended up just going with ball joints from orileyes auto parts (masterpro) and they fit fine and couldn't be any happier with my camburg ucas. Alignment is perfect and they also fixed my steering vibrations. Also took my sway bar off so my taco does have more roll but feels great ! Plus they look cool dust caps will be here next week :D

I too now have to replace my Ball Joints in my Camburg UCA's as the boots are ripped and grease is getting all over.

How difficult is it to take the Ball Joints out of stock UCA's and put them in the Camburgs? That is if I can find some stockers....

I had my oem bj's pressed out of stock arms and into camburg arms. I had a shop I liked say no prob on the phone and were only gonna charge $40. When he saw them, he said he didn't have the right adapter. Then I went to another shop that said the same thing. Finally at the third shop he said he wasn't sure he could do it without ruining the bj. I said it should work if your press bit is deeper than the bj is. He agreed and pressed it out/in no prob.

Your best bet is prob to keep an eye on the buy/sell/trade section and find some oem uca with the bj intact. They come up now and again. I wish Toyota would sell them...

Do you need to go to a shop to get it done? Is it possible to rent a ball joint press from an autoparts store?

Very possible... I just didn't want to deal with it. I thought the $40 quote was worth it, but ended up paying more at a different shop

What about replacing the Bushings for these...how often is that nesessary?

I'm wondering once I have everything apart as I install my suspension, should I replace my Ball Joint UCA Bushings and maybe the bolt that holds the UCA's in place.
