hello! im looking into lifting my tacoma, im not so for buying a whole kit and throwing it at it, im going to be sourcing most of what i can locally /used/ im about to pick up a set of camburg 2.5 coils with #600 springs and im wondering will these work with stock arms if not lifted?

so camburg 2.5 coils on stock arms and all.
until i can get some extended upper/lower arms.
looking for suggestions on what arms to go with. i want to keep this as comfortable and daily like as possible. but functional.

also looking for recommendations for the rear end. deavers ect. what shock am i looking for exactly? should i try and find shock hoops for under fender ect? just looking for suggestions and specifics on setting up a mild suspension.

Pm @HeadStrong Off-Road. Marie will help you with all questions that you have. 2.5 coilovers will work with stock control arms. Just don't crank them to the max. 2-2.5" will be fine. Deavers j66 pack are a very comfortable riding spring and should provide you with 1.5" of lift in the back extended shocks will be needed. The fox 2.0 are a great option to go with or some kings

now what route do i go if i want a little more clearance, there are some rocky sections i frequent by the lake where id say about 4 more total inches over factory would be nice.

i plan on doing full arms and better coils/bypasses in the front so i want a rear that can keep up. the current coilover question is just to see if these will fit for now and i can level it. but yeah im picking up some good condition camburg 2.5s for a steal!

The camburg 2.5s are just rebranded sway-away.

Don't crank them up all the way or you won't be able to get the correct caster in your alignment without new arms.

I have the camburg COs with camburg uniball upper arms in the front, and OME gen1 Dakar springs in the rear with fox 2.0. (Removed one of the overload springs in the pack) Good set up really. I have the front cranked all the way and it's a bit stiff.. but so is the rear with the dakars so it's even. Just a bit of a bumpy onroad ride. Off-road it's butter.

No. You need to go LT to do that unless you want to do a spindle lift. Are you 2wd or 4wd? If 2wd, get a set of spindles. Maxtrac spindles are an affordable option to widen as well as lift.

Otherwise you can always get a set of spacers for the front.

yeah im looking to go LT, not so into spindle lift. if its going higher, its to get more travel as well. basically trying to piece together a LT kit in the long run, i just dont know what length coils im looking for for front or rear, or what springs in the back to still be able to tow 6500 lbs

Cant run long travel coilovers on stock arms, if they're 2.5x8 coilovers you can't run them.

If they're stock replacement coilovers, extended or not, you can run them.

If the guy selling it to you used the coilovers with a long travel kit you can not run them.

If you want more clearance and you're 2wd get a lift, spindles, run bigger tires.

So the 2.5 x 8 standard camburgs wont work with stock arms? Even if set at factory height?

First page of that thread says he only has uca installed with the spindles. So is that all i need with these coils? What uca am i looking for? Longer then stock length right? And my oem lower arm will work? Im going to look more into the spindle lifts for sure thanks.

No you would need a extended length upper and lower control arms to run 8" travel coilovers. Total chaos, camburg, dirt king, or @DTFtacoma kits are all good options but can get pretty pricey.

You never answered if you're 2wd or 4wd.

No, you cannot get a "larger longer than stock" arm unless you have a LT kit.

You should be able to use these coil overs with the stock arms, as long as you don't crank them up to far. I'd say don't go above 1.5" of lift.

I believe he is talking about the the standard 2.5s that are their performance kit. Which would make sense about the upper arms, and spindle lift.

I have to ask why? Are the mounts diffrent or what? That fourm tagged makes it obvious thats not really needed
