I have a Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS lens that needs some help. The lens seems looser than normal on the front barrel assembly. I would normally send it to canon for repair , but they say they no longer service this lens in the Ver. 1. The lens still functions OK, but I figure if is something is loose , it will probably get worse. BTW, this is my favorite lens among what I own.
Has anyone here had any experience with 3rd party camera/lens service companies?
Let me know if you can suggest some company , that you have used
    Thanks,
    Mark

I've purchased in person from this company..... and talked with them at length about repairs. I'm in SoCal and wouldn't hesitate to use them.

There is an online camera group called Ugly Hedgehog. They can give you good advice.

are you talking about the focus ring or zoom ring? do they feel loose with a bit more play than normal?

I found a quick fix on my 16-35Lii 2.8. i pulled the rubber ring back to expose those little holes. you align those holes and expose the tops of a few phillips head screws. a few were loose on mine and almost backed out all the way. i tightened them down and had no problems after that. this beats down time packing your lens up and waiting for it to be repaired. just check for those loose screws before sending it in.

i have a 70-200Lii 2.8 and it shouldn’t be much a difference vs. the Li version
