So I have a Canon XSI with the following lenses:
    Tamron 10-24
    Canon 18-55
    Canon 50-250
    and Canon 50

Most of what I do is hiking with the dog in CO taking shots. I hate packing multiple lenses and I really done use the 10-24 at all anymore other than when I was in Europe once.

I would like the video option and I thought about selling my gear, keeping the 50mm, and getting a T5i with the newer 18-135mm. That range would cover just about everything I do.

How much do you think my current gear is worth and do you think this is a good idea?

    Thanks TW!

    Why a T5i over a T4i?

I guess if I found one, I don't see the 4 that often.

I love my 60D. May be more than you are looking at price wise but it's been a fantastic camera for me.

Yeah 60D would be nice, but a bit overkill for what I use it for. I love taking photos, but now I barely use hardly anything. I have heard good things on the 18-135 and it would cover just about all my needs. just wondering if its a good idea or not.

You'll lose a bit of IQ at the 18 and 135 ends AMD the sweet spot would be more in the middle.
I highly suggest checking out the forums at photographyonthenet.com

You'll find info on that lens, and any thing else you can think of

Everything I have read says favorable views. I really just need a good walk around lens for pics of the dog and on hikes. I have read its a great lens for video as well.

IMO the 18-135 is a great lens. It's what came with my 60D and it has taken numerous amazing photos at both 18 and 135mm. It is really nice if you just want one lens that is for sure.

This was taken with the 18-135...in fact most all of my images on flickr are shot with the 18-135.

    Those are nice!!!!

I've taken great pics with mine as well. But my 10-24mm never gets used anymore, and Canon has a cheap Wide angle now, so if I ever wanted to go that route again in the future. I'd like the higher ISO range for low light the T5i has as well. I almost never go above 200mm as well on my zoom. I almost quite taking it on hikes cuz I got annoyed with the weight of the lenses.
