    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
I'm sure that will change soon. The more people they distribute the goods to, the more space they will have.

Here's a fun note. You know how Ryan was trying to open a line of communication with Red Cross, so they can let him know if they need anything, so Ryan can help them get it???

Well that backfired... the Red Cross decided to try and stop taking donations again and dump them on Ryan. Ryan had a 53 ft truck of donations show up, and they said the Red Cross told them to take it to Ryan.

The radio out of Susanville kept stating to send money or checks to the Paradise Rotary as ALL those funds would go towards relief, unlike money sent to the Red Cross. The RC has their place, but maybe get in the way. Must be a arm of our guvment.

My buddy Dale, from the Church of Nazarene, and who met us out front, told me that day there were pushing maximum density, and were looking for additional space. Guess they haven't found any just yet. Guess they haven't been slammed by requests for items as much as they thought. It'll happen.

I've slammed them before, but it appeared that the Red Cross was doing a good job at the Butte County Fairgrounds. Additionally, a friend of mine had his garage, and part of his house catch fire last year. Without any prompting by him, the Red Cross showed up at his house before the end of the day with a check for 300 bucks, and offers to help him find alternative housing. They do well from time to time.

Late Edit: Based on what Matt just posted above - I retract my statement. Idiots!

Any big organization like them is going to have their issues. I can't even imagine the logistics that come into play on a relief effort like this let alone something like Katrina.

It's a national past time for some to slam those who try to help. Like FEMA. Most people, as you noted, have NO STINKING IDEA how difficult it is to mobilize that large of an organization from static to dynamic in 3 days. Sure, it's what they do, but they don't have units standing by every town in the country wondering were the next disaster is going to take place. I try to always keep that in mind. What are we told about earthquakes? Don't expect for 72 hours. Or was it more. Two weeks? I'm prepared to self sustain for a month if necessary. It'll be a bitch, though. Still, we thought that woman Virginia had it together enough to take our GOOD used donations. It was the smart thing to do. Wonder if someone above her pay grade made a contrary decision.

Geez these stupid ass people! I personally know there land owners willing to donate warehouses to store goods and clothing and all else, but these places that are actually acting and handing them out won't take a real helping hand. Then there's the issue of people to over see each or work those places. Why not get some of the people off their ( and this may sound cold but it's what we are doing) butts that those that have to stay in these shelters and places they take from and put them to work. I've seen people going from town to town packing Soo much and they have nowhere to put it so it's starting to look like trash scattered.
"We" those of us that work or asses off and even now still do, can't seem to understand the disconnect in others that want to dwell on the bad and recent past. I won't ever quit and we that won't quit will be the ones to get our things in order for our selves with a helping hand. During getting things in order I will help others as I can and will try( no matter how frustrating) to get others back into an operational status.
    Just venting a bit!

Lately I've just seen too many give so much from and of themselves and others just take take take and then bitch about it. I love the hell out of all of you here on TW. You guys have managed to make a difference for me and mine and I'm forever grateful! I'm just so angry with lazy people that won't lift a finger because they're (wait for it)

    Intittled!
Not now they're not! Just my opinion.

I think I may be I little fired up this afternoon. I better have a drink and relax. I think I'll go sit and have a whiskey and place myself in the middle of a cow field and watch from a distance.

Oh my! I feel like I just wacked my thumb with a hammer.
Start venting and the south wind kicks up and blew a ton of smoke in on my job sight.
    Well that should teach me.

If I went through what you have I'd be on a mountaintop shouting profanities at god. Venting on an internet forum is reasonable my man.

Man, I can't keep looking at these trucks! I'm seeing these prices and estimated payments... and I'm gunna end up wanting to go buy a second gen!

Would sure make the 4x conversion a hell of a lot easier.

Wait... I can't buy a second gen. To keep it El Taco Diablo I'd end up being a short bed twinsy to John. (@CalTacoma09)
