I have a opportunity to buy a Leer RCC that's color matches and for a short bed for $800. He says it has some scratches but nothing major and it doesn't leak. It also has factory Thule tracks and rails along with solid windoors on both sides, but with a solid fixed front glass. I was hoping for one with vented windoors and a removable sliding front glass..... what are the trade offs? Opinions needed!

for $800, that sounds like a good deal to me, regardless of the window setup. Seems like they're extremely expensive now days.

600-800 is the going price where I live, the solid windows would be a deal breaker for me as I use mine for my dog. all in what your intended purpose is for the cap/camper shell

    Buy it!
You may find that those extras you seek may not be such a big deal.
And if you decide that you need those features you can always upgrade it later.

If you have never had the nicer features you will never know the difference....ignorance is bliss.

I bought a topper that did not have windoors but had all the other wanted features, for way less than a new one.
I don't regret it at all...especially with over $2k in savings.

I agree with willee51, plus lacking a removable front glass will make it difficult to clean windows between cab and top.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Remove the front window of the cap and the rear window of the truck then use a rubber gasket between them for an open pass-through

Apply window tint film to the cab around the rear window (use the same thing to protect the paint from a magnetic CB antenna)

Thanks for all the first hand advice! I think I'm going to pass on this one. I'm just worried about not having any type of ventilation or any way of cleaning the front without moving the cap back. My dog usually rides in the cab, but does ride in the bed when he decides to get nasty.... weimaraners I swear are too much like a child.

You can swap out the windows that you don't like,go to a good dealer. It will cost you, $250.00+_ for vented windoor, $150.00+_ for front slider, plus labor.

I looked forever for a used one and got tired of waiting. I might have snagged an RCC at that price if it would've popped up in the right color.

I ordered a 100XQ brand new. They had a special with a free removable front glass, which is nice for being able to clean the back window of the truck. I also opted for the Thule tracks since I plan to add a Prinsu rack later on. The windows don't slide, but they do tilt out some for ventilation. It was a little expensive, but I have no regrets.

IMO, the 100XQ the best looking top for a DCSB.

I got very lucky and found a curb side flip up window on CL for $30. The shipping was more at $33. Bolted right in Edit: When I saw the pic I guessed it might fit (didn't ask the owner) and it did

I have a Leer 180 and actually just replaced my passenger's side sliding window with a solid Windoor. The shape of the windows look to the be the same. If you do end up with it I could probably make a you a deal on the slider to get it out of my garage. Also, you could probably get a sliding window from a Leer dealer for a couple hundred bucks.
