It’s been a while but if I remember it’s vary similar. Think the only difference was the wife colors but they have the exact same color stripes down the middle. Unfrotunatly my truck is in transit to Hawaii right now so I don’t have it close by where I can just pop the rear break light off and take a pic. 1 thing I remember being completely different was that the 2nd gen didn’t have as much room to play with. So i have fat fingers and it was a little tight but worked out great..... also nice DIY topper it looks nice.

Ok. Similar issue here. I have a 2010 Tacoma. With a shell on it. Today I took the left brake light off to see if the shell had previously been hooked up and looks like it was, but Im thinking based on a photo that shows splices of two red and one black, that in the past someone hooked it up such that the brake light illuminates and the reverse light not he third brake on camper comes on white during reverse. The black? a ground I guess. However the plug coming off the camper only has two wires, red/black. So do i just get some kind of splice connector to hook the one red from camper to both reds on tail light? and then black lead from camper to ??

I found the hole that goes from the tailgate area but it looks like you found one that goes through the bed itself (ie not through the crack where the tailgate slides in)? Pics below of what I see when I try to find a spot to run the cables from the third brake light up into the bed to connect to the shell. Any guidance on where exactly the best way is? This is on a 2000 Tacoma so it may not be the same although your pics look identical to mine (different color of course).
