I’d love to know what this cylinder is! Thanks!

Thats a damper for the glove box, stupidly the pivot point it attaches to is thin plastic and flexes fairly easily causing the damper to slid off. I removed my glove box, drilled a small hole through the pivot point, reinstalled glove box and connect damper, then I put a cotter pin through the hole I drilled.

My "repair" has lasted 3 or 4 years now at least.

It's the gizmo that keeps the glove box from dumping all of your useless crap onto the passenger side floor mat....

....Until it occasionally and without warning disconnects itself and the next time you open the glove box door it tips completely over and dumps all your useless crap on the floor...: Again.

not unhooked like that it won’t

OP, you’ll have to pop it on to that little split stub to the right of the glovebox. It’s a pain, small hands help

I had 2007 but I didn't have that like you have. I never seen that before. I traded my 2007 in for my 2017 that I have now.

Would you mind snapping a pic of your cotter pin fix? I’ve tried the foam between the two prongs but it keeps finding its way out. Thanks.

Yes it is. I just went through this when local dealership didn't put it back correctly.
