Need some help. Neighbor works at an RV dealership and said as long as I have not taken possession of the trailer I can back out even though a sales document has already been signed. Does anyone have any first-hand experience in Oregon? Apparently Oregon is a “delivery” state and my neighbor said if the dealer plays games I can report them to the state Attorny General. Is that true because the dealer that I signed the paperwork when is giving me the runaround right now. Had a family emergency come up and have to walk away right now.

How long ago did you sign that sales contract?

Yesterday, walk thru, inspection and pickup is set for tomorrow.

Had another friend who works at an RV dealership say until I hook it up and drive away I can walk away but I’m still silently freaking out since I am not versed in the law.

Some states have laws where a contract can be cancelled within 72 hours (3 days). Maybe your state is one of them?

I know Oregon doesn’t give you a 3 day grace period after you take possession and I know for cars/trucks until you drive off the lot it’s not “sealed”.

Sounds like until you hook up and drive off dealer lot it’s not done either...

That's how it is in Alabama as well apparently. My car salesman was telling me a story of how he was trying to sell a yellow prius. Came in, signed all the paperwork, and was going to come the next day to pick it up. His wife saw it, said hell no, and they walked away.

I know 100% that is fact with a vehicle that has a motor in it but I was having a hard time finding info related to non-motorized like travel trailers. Either way, whether their is a law in Oregon that had my back or not the dealership refunded my down payment and the deal is off as of this morning. It was a royal pain being it was on a weekend but we got they got it done.

Had my neighbor, and two other friends who are all RV Sales guys tell me the deal is not done until you take possession and drive away so either way it worked out for me and I can focus on the family.

I'm really happy to hear that you were able to get it worked out! That's a huge relief.
