2015 with the non-JBL factory radio. Last year I installed Kicker 6 3/4" door speakers in all 4 doors and tweeters up front. I am now getting ready to start wiring in a line out converter, small 4 channel amp and powered sub. My question is this: when I modify the t-harness I bought to run the speaker outputs to the line converter can I also keep the front door wiring spliced in and use that to only run the tweeters? I only have a 4 channel amp, so I will only have outputs from that to both pairs of 6 3/4" speakers. I am pretty sure the answer is yes, but I am far from an audio expert.

Did those Kicker door speakers come with a crossover? That would ordinarily be used to provide signal to both the door woofers and the tweeters.

You will need to run new wires into the door to make that happen.

the factory wiring goes from the radio, to the tweeter in the upper door panel, then to the woofer in the lower door panel. So both speakers are fed from the same wire.

if you want to keep the tweeters powered by the radio, you will need to run new wires from your amp through the door boot to the speaker in the bottom.

    make sense?

Yep. Just double checking I could feed the line converter and the tweeter at the same time. Thanks.

Yes, you can definitely do that. Yes, you can definitely do that.Luckily, the LOC doesn’t really use any power, so the tweeters will still get the full output of the radio (which isn’t much)

I’m confused on this one. So the plan is to run the speaker output from the head unit to your line converter to get signal to your amp to power the doors but also splice in the tweeters to run on deck power and then wire in a powered sub?

Any reason you decided on that setup instead of going from the amp to a crossover then from there to your woofers and tweeters?

You are not running a x-over in front of the tweeter (is that correct)? If so suggest a bass blocker on the tweeter.

It is a 4 channel amp, so I am powering the four 6 3/4" door speakers and originally wasn't going to be using the tweeters at all. At least this way I get something out of them.

    No, they came with crossovers.

Dude you may as well just add the crossovers since you already have them. That way you can push the tweeters with you woofers from the amp and get a better overall sound. This is just my opinion though I’m not trying to be rude or anything so hopefully it doesn’t come off that way.

Not at all. Like I say, I am far form an audio expert, so I'm all for suggestions. I did install the crossovers when I installed the speakers last year. So are you saying that I can power all 6 speakers with just the 4 channel amp?

Yes you can if you choose to go that route. For the front two channels you can go from the amp to to crossover (your crossover should be labeled) then you should have two outputs one for your mid driver and one for the tweeter. The crossover will prevent Low frequencies from going to your tweeter and causing damage. The rear two channels will go directly from the amp to the speakers. The sub is pretty self explanatory since it will have its own power and only need to receive signal from the head unit. First you get the base and then the bitches. Lol

So I am going to have to pull the door panels and look at them to be sure, but after thinking about it some and looking at the instructions I think that the crossovers are probably more like a filter as I'm pretty sure they only go to the tweeters and had no connections for the other speakers. Like I say, I will have to physically look at them to be sure.
