Can I make my 2017 passenger side floor board like a 2018 with the floor mat tabs?

I have no idea what my passengers were doing over there but would shove the mat up under the dash and then get mud all over the carpet, got sick and tired of cleaning it so I got different mats that do not move.

technically still your problem if the passenger slides the mat around and has muddy shoes.

Give me $10 and I will tell your passengers that your mats are not a leg press machine. If it is really that bad I doubt the clips will last. Seems to me that a piece of velco would be much less hassle and a lot cheaper.

Problem solved. Factory mats stink. No need to waste time and cutting carpet. After you cut the carpet put the stupid clips in and drive around for a while you will want the nice custom mats. But now your carpet has a hole in it and the fancy custom mats don’t have the slots. Now your cutting your fancy custom mats or taking out the crap you put in earlier. Just get weathertec, husky, whatever fancy may and do it right the first time OP

How did you get it to stick to the bottom of the mat?

Added a dab of Shoe Goo to each piece of Velcro.

This may be the best solution actually!!! did you just stick the hard side of the Velcro on the bottom of the mat? more details please!

Fair points. Mostly I was just kidding about the "passenger side" stuff.

I got the Weathertechs in the Tacoma (I put Husky in the wife's minivan. Both are good... I don't have a horse in that race!), so it doesn't bother me that they slide around a little, because they're still cupped to capture all the water and mud.

Today I contemplated buying the 2018-2019 Toyota clips and adding them to my 2017. After reading this thread, I am leaning towards not doing it because the passenger-side mat still sucks.

My logic however, is that I would still buy aftermarket mats (either Husky or WeatherTech), but at least I would "upgrade" to the model year, and the respective mat, that has lockdown clips. Therefore I would get the best of both worlds: a higher-quality mat and one that I know that absolutely will not move, because frankly, I think the passenger-side mat moves itself!

Gesundheit! Well apparently all-weather floor mats are a dime a dozen. I've never heard of these, but how do you like them? Browsed a few pictures online, and they have a hump on the outside edge? Trip-up hazard or snag/fold nuisance?

This is hilarious! And do I sense a little bit of Chazz Reinhold in this post?

Good idea for the OEM all-weather mats' last resort. Worth a shot before giving up on them!

I have WeatherTech mats in my suburban and before that the minivan. The 3D maxpider in the Tacoma seem to fit better, clean easier and overall I like the look of them more then the WeatherTech. But that’s not really an apple to apple comparison since they are in different types of vehicles. The little hump is not a snag or tripping hazard but more a great way to keep crap on the mats. Good luck on buying mats they are expensive.

I have done this mod to my 2016 with Weather tech. I have some clips left over if anyone wants to buy them. Open to offers
It was super easy to do

My passenger (below) is happy to vomit on OEM, WeatherTech or no mat at all. I prefer the WeatherTech as it stays in place.
