I have a 96 tacoma and i like the way the flares look on the 2002 tacomas. I went to a local junk yard last weekend and they said the beds are different? I didnt have a measuring tape to check dimensions but they looked the same to me. also does anyone know if the newer headlights hood grill will fit on the older ones too? Thanks in advance

Flares: Yes, they should fit no problem. On the 01-04 flares they had clips that would pop into the body of the bedside as well as clips/screws that held them on within the wheel well.. On the 95.5-00 they are only held on by the clips/screws in the wheel well. But they should fit no problem. Pretty sure many have done that here.

Front end swap: Putting an 01-04 on a 96 is very part intensive but can be done. Here's the reverse (putting a 95-97 front end on an 01-04) but it gives you essentially the same idea: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1st-gen-tacomas/95766-how-95-5-97-grille-swap-onto-01-04-a.html

as said you could. But you'd have to drill holes in you bed and flares. Mounting is totally different then our flares.

Honestly id just take off the flares. The looks is super clean and looks great.

don't swap the front! you have the best front end as it is

To help persuade you to leave the awesome 96 front end and take the flares off....
