Can someone explain tax rules to me?

Not hating, I only go there to visit in-laws and am always amazed at how long it takes to get there.

 

I drove to Reno in 2004......Jesus....27 hrs LOL....it is a long ways!

 

US COde- Title 26 Subtitle A, Chapter 1, Subchapter A Part 1 Section 1- Tax Imposed.

Title 26 is the IRS section of the US Codes. That is the VERY first article of it. Lays out the groups who are liable for taxes and many of the definitions. You can debate the legitimacy of the code- but I doubt that will get you far.

I also doubt the "I'm not getting what I'm paying for" argument will work...Just because your chosen ideology did not win the last round of elections doesn't mean you get to back out.

True, and i guess that brings up another question thats been on my mind, in a situation like the latest, is it unheard of to bypass the house and senate and have a nationwide vote?

I studied accounting in college. I don't understand what you are getting at. People with the opinion "theres no law that says you have to pay taxes" simply don't understand our legal system. Internal Revenue Code IS federal law... as in not complying with them is a felony.

Nope...That was from about 3 mins of work on Google. I Googled "Why do I have to pay taxes" just cause I couldn't remember which USC belong to the IRS. Once I had that...it was another quick Google of "UCS 26" and a few clicks to make it all make sense.

Took me longer to write that post than find the answer....

Im guessing you are making the point that i should have googled before posting? Well truth is i have actually googled this topic before, and this is not the first time I have discussed it with people. But never have I gotten to the bottom of it, and i still hear people claiming the no law argument.

If I was going to make that point- I would have posted a "Let Me Google That For You" It WAS easy to find- but I've worked with several sections of the USC before.

All this stuff is out there- It's public domain by it's very nature. Is it easy to read?? Not really...No. But if you are concerned about it then you can find the info you need to make an informed decision.
