On the market to buy another truck sadly, I don't have the means to go south and get another one so I'm looking for as clean as possible.
Is this rust that can be dealt with and treated to prevent further damage?

That is literally so incredibly far gone I wouldn’t touch it with a 100ft pole.

you’ll get plenty of comments from welders or fix it addicts who have the means or the interest to take everything off the frame and weld on support plates or whatever fix they have in mind...

Unless you’re up for spending somewhere above or below $800 for a proper frame fix, and expect it to be undriveable for a little while if a shop does it, or longer if you DIY, I’d say stay away from anything that rusted.

My first question is, after reading the first few lines of the description, how are you even considering it? The seller is clearly an idiot trying to be a TV advertisement. Anyone who has to be an idiot to sell their product is a scam. A good product sells itself, and definitely without dumb jokes and irrelevant questions like this derp is putting in his description. Stay the hell away from it.

What's the rest of the frame look like? Really hard to judge without taking a hammer to it.

Can only imagine what the inside portion of the frame looks like.

    Walk away and keep looking.

new driveshaft?, perhaps exhaust as well?
if those are original i am perplexed
fuel shield does not look bad so that might just be isolated
@Emmetjmcc4, need more pics! or a thorough close and personal inspection
could be just surface stuff like i have going on
    where's this trucks location
    maybe better options out there

Yeah, parts of that look better than mine by far, and I don't see any holes. Can't judge it from one picture.

Sorry but Tacoma rust is like human cancer. It only spread and can not be contained.

Bro...that frame is only getting broken in, like the engine!

Keep looking! I found mine on ebay and its cleaner than a 3rd gen brought from Georgia. Sucks but being patient is the best option if you can.

can you tell if that is just a layer of bad paint coming off or does it look like a layer of metal chunking off?
right next to the left of the mount there

    Mine was worse than that.
Paid $550 for the truck and paid my fabricator buddy $550 to cut out the rot and weld in reinforcements.

Check out my thread for further details for how I treated the rust.

$550 might be worth it. Not $4,500
