I was doing some research on UCA’s and came across this. Is it true? I have ome 887’s and only around 2 inches of lift, wondering if stock UCA articulation constraints are limiting the lift

They can give you more alignment adjustment allowing for a higher lift through struts/coil overs/ shocks. Whatever you want to call them lol

Yes, if you put spacers on the ball joints.

Trail Masters used to sell a 6" lift kit like that for 1st gens. It was appropriately named the Trail Disaster lift

I don't think theres anything like that on the market anymore for Tacomas, thankfully

Here's an image from an old TW thread showing an upper control arm ball joint spacer

    It appropriately resembles a grenade

They actually do, but it’s minuscule.

Any time you lengthen a leaver on an angle the distance from the lowest part to the highest part will increase. However, the force applied to the leaver has a greater advantage because it’s now longer. Distribution of the force can now act against the leaver and reduces lift. Generally stopping in the middle. So if you add 1” of control arm length you may experience 1/4” of added lift.

If you want more lift, just add more spacers.

Nah. But they'll allow for more droop over stock UCA's.

That article is describing a 4" lift for 99-04 Grand Cherokees that replaces upper and lower control arms.

Zoom in and look how the top of the spindle has been smashing into the top hat of the Kings and the spacers above it. I bet this makes a hell of a racket when it happens.
