Hi, 2023 Taco here, with the new LED headlights from factory. I was wondering, is there a wiring harness out there or a re-coding tool that can allow me to have the DRL's run amber at all time?

I mean, they have the capability as they can switch to amber when you switch on your turn signals/hazard lights. So I could imagine you could program them to stay amber instead of white when on?

The logic driving the amber is incorporated into the headlight itself. So you would have to make the changes there. If you apply a constant current to the turn signal input, you get a single flash, and that’s it.

I've been wanting this from the OEM LED's since I got my 2020!

Would something like that require baking the lenses off and modifying the internals of the headlight? Or would that be involving the wiring harness that plugs into the back of the headlights?

Yeah, you would definitely have to get into the headlight. It can’t be done via the wiring unfortunately. There is a plug that is behind a cover on the bottom of the headlight that might be able to be rerouted, but I never looked into it that far. We did do some experimenting with the plug in the back though, and it just couldn’t be done there.

Great, thank you for the help & input. Sounds like you have achieved this on the OEM LED headlights?

Don't. Too much amber up front, a turn signal won't stick out vs white.

It's like out back, I got the Meso stage 1 so I can have amber turn signals, since they stick out instead of just being red in a sea of red. Up front, keep amber against a sea of white. Otherwise, you'll just have amber and amber and amber and it'll drown out your turn signal.

I haven’t, but it’s been thought of before, so we were looking into the behavior of the headlight and if it could be done easily.

    Oh look, another mod....
Before changing anything, check your local state laws. Many states only allow white/yellow DRL for headlights.

Good point, in fact in Europe rear signals have to be amber by law because the red turn gets drowned out by red tail/stops.
