canopy topper extension?

    hello every one. my wife just bought me a canopy topper for my 04 DC used. the problem is is that it is two inches to short but it fits fine every where else. so my queston is, is it possible to extend the topper the two inches i need. i was thinking of cutting it and adding more fiber glass. if anybody knows how to do that or if it would be possible, please let me know
