I want to buy the powered automatic ones. Just having a really hard time justifying the $1200. I keep telling myself that I will use them every time I get in and out...

On every running board and side steps thread, people
    always say get sliders.

Yepp. And I also read that sliders need to be welded to the frame. Which makes sense based on the function they serve. However, I don't think I'd ever drive into that kind of off-road scenario. In fact, I'd avoid it. Any place where sliders would save me, I'm sure I've already damaged some other part of my truck at that point.

Sliders don't just protect you from offroad. They protect you from parking lot doordings/shopping carts. When a vehicle decides to cut you off and not check their blind spot they will hit sliders. Just a thought :)

Ya that's what I'm thinking, any companies make bolt on sliders for the 16? Also has anyone ever bought these?

Get sliders. Actually provide protection and can be used as a step. If you go with true bolt on, they are easily taken off, unlike welding them. BAMF has some bolt on, no drilling at all. Those electric ones wear out, and they are not cheap to replace.

I bought ProZ 6" Ovals.....They protect against my wife's CRV doors so they should protect against all vehicle doors. 6"s are pretty wide . I don't need them to get in the truck. I bought them for parking lot protection. $279 Shipped

I did not realize you could get bolt on sliders. I swear I googled for these. Everything I read stated sliders need to be welded to the frame for structural integrity. But I can see how those BAMF bolt-ons work. They must weigh quite a bit but it sure solves the no-weld issue.

Several companies sell them. Welding would make them stronger, but I'm sure they've tested them out.
