I'm VERY new to this site, and I'm learning how to navigate and find stuff, so apologies if this has already been discussed.

I picked up my first 2014 DCSB Tacoma last Sunday. Today I realized there is no locking tailgate. I have a cap ordered and it will be installed in a few weeks. I understand that the cap overlaps the tailgate a bit. Is this enough to keep my dog and gear in the back from getting stolen with ease? Should I get an aftermarket tailgate lock? The place that I'm getting the cap from said they can do it for $95 plus $75 for installation. Is this a good price?

    Cheers!

Welcome, When my cap is locked, it prevents the tailgate from opening, but I did install a pop and lock. There are various kinds available and the cheapest ones start around $40. Pretty easy to install, I was able to install myself, was very quick and I am not mechanically inclined.

Damn. I just put on hose clamps. I should replace them with the E-Z clamps. I think I'm going to see how my cap fits and locks it all up before buying a tailgate lock.

Removed factory bed cover and installed UnderCover Elite. Added LOCKERDOWN console safe.
Added the new pop&lock that your Toyota key will fit so no extra key to keep up with. Like it very much.
