I might go out to McKinney Falls tomorrow and go off-road on foot. Truck shall remain firmly ensconced in the parking lot.

We couldn't get muddy here if we wanted to - it's been dry as a bone. We get all our rain at once.

Glad they finally got the rail ends shipped out to you, has it fixed your problems?

I believe so. They were a cast iron bitch to put on only because Toyota torques the living shit out of those torx screws on the cab rail. At least the tailgate seal was easy as hell to install. I went through the local U-wash-it and pressure washed the shit out of it - bed was dry as a bone. Mission accomplished.

Yeah, it was something insane like 60+ ftlbs on those, I hope I never have to do that again...

I'm still getting a little leaking but I think I just haven't found the sweet spot yet, that or maybe I just need to tighten the back down a bit more.

I found that getting the top lined up in that sweet spot helps a lot.

Which lock did you end up going with? I am thumbing through some on Amazon and a lot of the reviews are claiming they won't fit Tacoma's hitches.

I agree; I just haven't had a lot of occasion to take her out anyplace scenic. By the time I get home, it's dinner and puppy playtime.

It's a 3-day weekend...I may need to go visit a local state park...

    Captain,

Long time listener, first time caller. Nice truck brother. Would you say the extang 2.0 would be hard for thieves to defeat? I live in the city and am looking for the safest tri-fold that doesn't cost a ton. I'll take my answer off air.

It's pretty secure. I have one and haven't really worried about anyone getting into it. You would definitely need some power tools to get through it., and hopefully someone would notice that...

Agreed. I stayed at the scene of an accident I saw happen to give a witness report to police, and the cops were using my tonneau as a desk. One of them even commented on how solid it was. So, it's apparently APD approved...

Sweet guys thanks. I think the ones with the pull cords could easily be defeated with the ole coat hanger trick. The extang design looks like it would be super hard if not immpossible to jimmy from the back. Thanks for the heads up.

Also thanks again Cap for the heads up on getting the seals. I live I Seattle and I need that thing to stay dry and tight.

    No sweat.

Do, uh, you even have a truck yet or are you playing the waiting game?

Not yet. Im gonna trade my 2010 for a 2016 OR before the end of the month. I have been on the fence about the Tacoma I wanted but after reading a ton in the 3rd gen forums I narrowed it down. Doing my research. Wanted to know about the extang cuz it seemed a bit better than the one Toyota is offering. I don't want to buy a bunch options I may regret.

Some stuff may transfer over. My steps were actually designed for a 2012 - the bolt holes are the same. Don't know if that relates back to a 2010.

You're going to need a new TW sticker...
