The missus drives what the missus likes. She's also offsetting my carbon footprint. She just can't fit crap in the back of that thing, so she has finally acknowledged truck > Prius when going to Sams Club.

    Congrats Capt!
Some questions for ya, sir. If you don't mind of course....

How much did you pay over invoice?
Did you get the costco discount?
Besides the delivery fee, what else is autonation charging?

    Thanks!

Good to see you have good ol' Steve Rogers on the dash and not the new Cap (Falcon). Don't think I'll ever adjust to that...

$1300 below MSRP thanks to USAA/True Car pricing. Not a Costco member.
They hit us for an "inventory tax" that we use Texas law to get out of paying. While the dealerships almost always pass that "tax" down to the buyer, we aren't obligated by law to pay it. So, they reduced the total amount by $67.30 and we were good to go. There's a $120 document fee that's standard at any dealership, and the expected sales taxes and registration fees.

If you're thinking of getting a truck from them, PM me and I'll pass on some AutoNation (still Champion of Austin to me) specific scuttlebutt.

It's short lived, I think. Bucky lasted maybe a year as Cap while Steve was recovering from "rebirth," and I think that eventually he's going to tire of his current situation and suit back up again.

Wait, Falcon isn't the new Cap, unless you're talking a different continuity...

    Thank you Capt.
First I've heard of this "inventory tax". Definitely good deal, I'm wondering if the Costco deal is any better? I believe someone said $250 over invoice...which seems like a great deal.

Okay, I installed my Steelcraft 5" oval steps I ordered during the AutoAnything cyber week sale. Installation couldn't have been easier.

Color coded: green was driver side and clear was passenger side. All pieces were there.
    image.jpg

The supports went on easy. I only tightened to hand-tight until everything was together...
    image.jpg
    image.jpg

...and then tightened everything up. Solid, no play, and I can bounce on them. Easy as pie.

One thing I will say for their instructions: what the hell is an 12.7 mm socket? Why not just say 1/2 inch? Really Steelcraft?

Sounds like the directions for the LED shop light I bought from Costco. Holes had to be drilled 40.583 inches apart from one another to mount it..... How do you even measure that?! Ugh!

Congrats. Any thought on removing the air dam? I took mine off on the second day. Haven't looked back since. I've got s blue sport as well but short bed. Love it more every day I drive it.

I'm not planning on removing it, since gravel roads are about the extent of my off pavement activity.

The Extang SolidFold 2.0 could not have even any easier to install. Instructions are good, but once you get everything lined up it' pretty simple to figure out.

Open box, place cover on truck.
    image.jpg

Slide the block into the rail, get it lined up with the front latch, and tighten the bolts with provided Allen wrench.
    image.jpg

The front was a little different, and may be different on the short bed than my long bed. The screw block lines up right at the back of the rail, so I had to remove both of the plastic end clips. Once everything was lined up and in place...
    image.jpg

...latching is pretty straightforward. Pull handle to set or release latch.
    image.jpg

Once it's on, it looks pretty good.
    image.jpg

I followed some of the advice given in othe threads on this cover. It's not too tight, and there is still a tiny bit of play in all the weatherstripping. There are some very small gaps under 1/8" at the cab side of the bed wall where water could intrude, but it's at the top of the bed and not part of the tonneau. However, it'd have to be raining a frog-strangling duck drowner to get through them.

In all, I'd say it is a good alternative to the factory cover that Toyota decided wasn't good enough for MY particular build.

She needs to learn to fold the seats down. I had a company Prius at my old job (my wife also drives one as well), once had to demobilize a site when I wasn't expecting to, loaded 2 portable tablesaws, a miter saw, small compressor, trim and finish guns, 6' ladder, a bunch of folding saw horses, and a bunch of other minor crap in mine. Saved me a 150 mile round trip to swap out for the company F350. There's almost as much room back there as my DCSB with the stupid tonneau cover on.

She does when she needs to, but she can't drop it when there are people still sitting back there. With the truck that isn't an issue.
