Ha! Yeah For sure, good point, I was saying from the front while it’s attached to the truck in back. Now I am curious of the actual weight?

Add 60lbs of skids, save 40lbs on the hood, makes sense to me if you can afford it and it’s safe.

Light trucks not only save fuel, and accelerate quicker, they don’t get stuck as easily and save on tires.

Agreed. Weight is huge. You might be close to canceling out a full aluminum skid setup.

I’d like to see this. The stock hood is by far the heaviest hood I have ever lifted.

Yeah, my super strong fingers got to typing before my brain really thought my statement through. I was referring to lifting it while still attached to the vehicle as stated above. I'm an idiot haha! Still not sure its 60lbs though.

You have to admit though it’s pretty damn heavy! When I first got mine I thought it wasn’t unlatched or something was wrong as I was opening it.

Man, I lifted my hood last week and honestly thought to myself it seemed flimsy, I don't lift a lot of hoods from various cars/trucks on the reg so maybe it is heavy and I just don't know! ha! I'm gonna go outside right now and bench press my hood for a few reps and let you all know what it weighs!

Wrapping the hood in carbon fiber-looking vinyl likely costs a fraction of this...and is just as flammable.

You'd be surprised how you can shave off calories on a cheat day. I typically snag two Mc Doubles with NO fries & No soda and call it a day. When I go to In n Out, it's a 3x3 with NO special sauce (Thousand Island), fries, or soda. I get to eat a lot of things I like but I calculate everything to stay within my diet.

So yes, ordering water can allow you to order 6 meals from Mc Donalds.

But a carbon fiber hood on a Tacoma, I just can't calculate!

More importantly, adding 60 lbs in skid plates and reducing 40 lbs in the hood actually lowers your center of gravity...which comes in handy when you are doing 20 MPH in that 10 MPH parking lot.

    Fresh gas.

    Yup! Agreed!
Better results from getting lighter wheels and tires (get that unsprung weight down!) but any reduction in weight is a good thing.

(I think carbon fibre is sexy - i'd slap it on my truck if I had money to burn)

The original Tacoma hood is aluminum...! What is the reasoning behind a carbon fibre hood? Hood hinge bolts in C/F or fiberglass mix will wear out quickly and the hood will dance on the road!

I don’t think so. The guy who wrapped my hood a few weeks ago checked with a magnet to see if it was steel or aluminum: the magnet adhered; it is steel. Besides, it weighs too much to be aluminum.

Lol, that's a funny one. Trust me if that hood is made out of aluminum it wouldn't weigh that much. Btw, we have no infos regarding the underside of this hood.
