Morning! Thanks for the reply. The guy said they don't do Carfax they use some other program similar to it though. I ran the Vin and it says 23 reports. Its a 08 with less than 35k miles. Just seems odd to me. Also, its a prerunner with a 4x4 sticker on the windshield. I told him I hadn't seen a 4x4 prerunner and his reply was "he was informed it wasn't 4x4 after he took the picture and posted the ad"... I don't know, maybe I'm over tinking it?!

Its not a big dealership either. One of those buy here pay here deals. They buy auction vehicles and buy from other big dealerships.

23 reports could be a number of things including service that was done on the truck. I recently purchased a used Tundra the carfax had numerous reports on it (none of which involved a wreck)
Take a look at the report he has and go from there with it

if its a buy here pay here lot, I imagine that truck has been thru a few auctions. if so you probably wouldn't be able to get that info. even though that dealer doesn't use carfax, his report should let you know where the truck has been and any accidents

I asked if he could provide a clean Carfax because the ad says nothing about one. He said they don't use Carfax but could provide the report for the program they use..

The other report is probably autofax, when i bought my used tacoma the dealer kept saying yea, we have a carfax here it is. They showed me a autofax report instead. I ended up buying the truck. Fast forward and im trading it at another dealer and they offer a low price and tell me the reason is it has a bad carfax, this time im shown a real carfax report, not autofax or whatever the hell it was. The carfax had a severe front impact with a deer with damage bad enough that it needed towed away. If they dont want to get the carfax go elsewhere.
On a side note those buy here pay here lots are shady as fuck, i wouldnt buy a piece of bubble gum from one. There are a ton of those lots around me and i could talk for days

Some dealers use one or the other and I'm sure they don't want to pay for both. With that said look at the other vehicles on the lot to see if they all use the same service. If some others have carfax then I'd run away.

For what it's worth our carmax dealer here uses autocheck. They claim it to be better, idk, just 2 different services which complicates things IMO.

Sucks because this one is the nicest one I've come across in my price range... 08 with less than 35k on it. Excellent condition

Just checked their inventory on their site. The Tacoma isn't even listed on the inventory. Only about 13 or 14 vehicles. Some have both Carfax and auto check reports. So I'm guessing its an autocheck report.
