I bought a Carista adapter from Amazon about a week ago and finally gave it a shot today. The app is supposed to connect automatically, but I don't know why it wouldn't connect to with my iPhone 5. Has anybody with an iPhone been able to use the app with the Carista OBD2 adapter (3rd gen specifically)?

Furthermore, Tacomas are listed as not supported for customizations and advanced diagnostics on Carista's website. Some members have suggested using this setup to disable the seatbelt beep so WTF.

Is your Bluetooth on? Mine worked perfectly. Tacoma isn't listed, but it does work. I am using iPhone 6

Yes, bluetooth was on. I keep it on all the time and connects automatically to my truck. Below is a pic of the message I got (note the bluetooth icon); sent Carista an email and attached the pic as well. Gonna have to wait and see what they have to say.

Just to get this out of the way I've:

-tried it with the WiFi off and bluetooth on
-tried turning off the bluetooth and turning it back on
-tried it with the truck in ACC, On, and running

That's what I thought for a second too, but I bought it from Amazon so I doubt it's a KO.

I'd shoot them an email. Make sure to give them the numbers off the package.

Thanks. I already sent them an email with both pics I posted in this thread. Got an automatic reply saying they usually reply within 24 hours, but it's the weekend so I'll wait patiently... and keep dealing with that annoying seatbelt beep. lol.

When I see stuff like this, glad I went with Toyota TIS Techstream instead.

Hope you get things worked out!

I have the same adapter with an iphone 6 and successfully turned off my chime.

And I recall getting that same message at first and was WTF??? also.

it's been over a month so I'm fuzzy what I ended up doing to make it work, but IIRC - just open up the Carista app and it should rock and roll.

In other words, you don't connect the phone to the adapter thru settings-bluetooth, I think the app connects automatically

Not yet; figured it would take them a while too. I tried pairing it with an iPhone 5S today and that didn't work either.

Anyhow, I think I know what the problem is. My OBD2 port isn't working so that's why it can't sync. For troubleshooting purposes (should've done this sooner), I hooked up my OBD2 scanner and it didn't power on. Gonna check all the fuses before taking her to the dealership.

Could it just be a defective Carista hardware? Have you tried plugging it into another car to see if it powers on? Even if it can't connect to app

Works fine in another vehicle, even cleared a code. That's another check in the block so I'm pretty certain it's my OBD2 port not powering the Carista adapter or my OBD2 scanner.

Issue was the OBD2 port; fuse was blown so it wasn't powering the adapter. The fuse for the OBD2 is in the fuse panel down by the OBD2 port on the bottom left hand side.

Now I'm wondering if one of the dealerships I brought it to blew that fuse. Also, since one dealership checked my transmission fluid level, I'm hoping the fuse wasn't blown during that process so they knew when they were at the right temp.

Thanks. I actually glanced at those yesterday and it did help; was just a matter of finding where the fuse was located.
