Some people are using some strange terms these days. If you lift up her shirt the "zerk" fittings should be in plain sight. I'm just trying to figure out what kind of "grease" your pumping in there. Oh you meant on your truck? I have no idea I have a 1st gen lol

They are pretty straight forward to change. I tend to make it a day project with a few beers. I get about 2 years out of mine, I probably will now only get a year max once I finish up my rear.

    This is what i used

If your not afraid of getting dirty you can do it all your self.

Supplies include hammer, ear plugs, slide hammer/gear puller, u-joint press, sockets, and a ton of patience (needle bearings)

To make your current bearing last till you get the replacement buy some spray on lithium grease.

    BTW I've done this twice

WD40 is designed to displace water to prevent rust ("Water Displacement 40") However, it is NOT a lubricant - it's more of a solvent.

Was the sound proportional to the vehicle speed?

If it was a bad screech from the CB, you should be able to reproduce by putting truck up on jackstands with the rear wheel elevated, then rotate the rear wheels while in neutral (chock the front wheels for safety, OK?)

That'll help you narrow down whether it is in fact a CB problem before you go plunking down your hard-earned denero on replacement parts.

the wd40 was only used to find out where the sound was coming from it was not used as a lubricant

To everyone who replied thank you i really appreciate it but I have one last questions......why would it make this rubber to metal noise only in reverse and not in drive??

Hey sorry I'm bringing this one back from the dead. I have a 2nd gen with well over 1" of slop in the carrier and driveline vibs that won't go away. I wanted to replace the carrier bearing. The link you posted I assume fits your 2nd gen fine. Any idea's on weather or not it would fit the 4X4 driveshaft?

    Thanks in advance!

    A few bolts are different.
I once had a pretty bad squeak. Kinda like a squeaky bed as your railing your GF. It turned out to be bad U-Joints. Take it to a drive shaft shop, they will be able to diagnose it quickly and take care of your annoying STD.

Take-off shudder under 10mph, then pretty bad from 22-28.

Sounds like you need a new carrier and at least one u-joint.
