The diesel Volvos were *awful*. They used a 2.4L 6 cylinder version of a 4 cylinder VW diesel, which was NOT known for longetivity and was known for not being very reliable and eating head gaskets and such. Sweden, being very far north and very cold, just isn't very diesel friendly.

That looks like Clive Cussler's matched pair in his Museum in Colorado.

A Checker Cab. Checker Motors at the time was owned by E.L.Cord, who also owned Cord, Auburn, and later Deusenberg.

It's possible. The color looks the same/similar to the one that's on the back of Inca Gold, but Cussler's is a 1936 and the page I pulled it from (link- http://theoldmotor.com/?p=147078 ) lists theirs as a 1937.
But, given the internet being what it is, it's possible that they used a photo of Cussler's setup and got the year wrong. :notsure:

Probably not, but I don't put a whole lot of faith in antique plates being accurate to the state the car's in. There's a couple of cars running around the Lewiston area here in Maine that have the California black & yellow plates. :notsure:

    Clive's car is a 36, and the trailer is a 37.

The "gentleman’s muscle car" the Plymouth GTX was produced 67-74. The first year run in '67 was the only year of this body style and even more rare with the 426 Hemi (125 produced). I only know of these because a friend has restored original numbers red '67 like the picture.

mine was a very reliable/robust car once I took care of some deferred maintenance issues after I bought it. I got it stupid cheap so I figured those costs into it. I took it on road trips all over the place, it never let me down. with bilsteins, IPD sway bars, new suspension bushings, etc, it handled very well. I used to really load it down for road trips, too.

now, 82 or 83 to early 1987, volvos had 'biodegradable wiring', those were very troublesome.

:spy: mine was super reliable too.

Up until recently I saw it still running around and I sold it with well north of 250k miles 10 years ago...

Wasn't there some guy that put 3 million miles on one of those 1800's? I feel as though I read something about that a couple of years ago.

    Hold please...
