Thanks for your reply... i figured this, i actually quoted KinSev because he mentioned a discount code.

It looks like i'm not getting rid of my taco for a long time, may as well get a decent head unit with android auto/ carplay and look into a sub.

this unit seems like a great value for the features.

Check out this page, it’s the 4Runner and Tacoma group that has these installed. But I’m sure they have to have some second gens with them on there that can help. and Kingsev is on the page as well. He can answer the discount info. I wish i could help more on the 2nd gen info but i only know about it on the 3rd gens.

not really. There’s never a need for the external gpa antenna till you need an app that’s downloaded onto the headunit to have a reference signal.

I’ve been going about 4 months no with no external antenna connected.

Just pulled the trigger on the px6 unit... thanks for the coupon code! I heard that if I want to use the factory GPS antenna I will need an adapter... does anyone know what parts I need to order if I want to retain the factory GPS?

Honestly i haven’t used the factory antenna at all. The phone apps will do everything i need. It didn’t make sense to me to have Apple Maps on the phone but also have it downloaded to the headunit.

there’s an antenna that comes with the unit. I’ve checked it and you’re getting a better signal with that than the stock antenna.

bur there are adapters to get for the stock antenna. Just personally wasn’t worth it for me. I’ve bought it and then sold it afterward.

Ok, if the included antenna gets a better signal than the stock then I'll save myself the $30... Thanks for the info!

No worries, the only downside is the antenna is the normal square antenna but it’s not that bad. You just have to deal with the idea of having an antenna on your roof that doesn’t function.

but if you ever sell the truck just easily put the old radio back in. And sell the px6 to another

Just to clarify here... can you download Google Maps with offline maps unto the unit itself? I'm thinking of the off chance my wife drives the Tacoma and she wants to use Google Maps without having to use her phone.

    Yes you can, not
From personal experience yet from what others have said

as Long as you can connect your headunit to a WiFi spot to set it then you can do that.

you could also download the offline maps on your phone and it’s the same thing

Looks exactly like the Dasaita head unit I put in my truck. Wonder if the price is different?

the radios are really close between the dasaita and the pX6. There’s been more issues reported about the dasaita.

the reality is most people who jump in with negative reviews either don’t have the radio and complain because their “similar” radio is better.

it’s like going on a Chevy forum and saying your Tacoma is just like if not better. Yet the guys with the Chevy love their truck and just experience with it.

All this post was a review of a radio and where it came from. There’s even a support group made for the headunit to help everyone learn about it.

Yeah I have the PX6, I have no complaints about either radio and nothing to add in terms of criticism, just caught my eye is all.

Personally I have not had a problem with the PX6, but can totally understand some of the complaints about it (since they are Chinese cheap radios imo).

Hey if this radio looks the same but performs better and has more storage for the same price, maybe I'll look into switching.

Aaaanyway, I'm leaving this comment here to remind me to check this out later since Toyota can't fix the rebooting issue on their Entune unit in my truck. Seriously, a 5 year old truck... something breaks and their technicians are both astounded and in a stupor.

exactly, i honestly don’t care what radio anyone gets. There’s a lot of good ones out there. But this is my personal review for my personal truck from a website i took a chance on. On a 3rd gen Tacoma. Hopefully people can filter through the nonsense to find quality reviews to aid them on their own modifications

To be honest I was not aware there was any nonsense going on. I honestly did read everything lol. Just thought it was interesting that it looked the same. Probably same radio only a different name or seller maybe? Idk. Who know what's goes on on China :notsure:

Does anyone know if this unit works on a 2016 tacoma SR with the basic 6.1" head unit.
