    Hey all,

I have a 2003 DC 5VZ-FE and i was juuuust about to purchase new cats to get rid of my shot stock ones that keep throwing codes etc.

I'm going to be replacing them with an Eastern Catalytic EAST40364 up front and a weld-in 2.25 in/out universal with o2 port from either Eastern or Walker.

But then i ran outside and looked underneath my truck and the stock photos from each manufacturers websites look like they won't work and their bolt-ons have an o2 sensor built in... if i went with their bolt on, i'd have 3 o2 ports... but I can't tell if my exhaust is completely stock or not as the o2 sensor is after the rear Cat's flange, on the regular pipe that runs to the muffler...

This is all just throwing me for a loop. I've emailed both companies this morning but haven't heard back yet.

Basically, i'm looking for a couple other 1st gen DC's with 'stock' exhausts/cats to post up a pic of your front and rear cats all the way back to the muffler...

Looks like i can just cut out the old rear cat and weld in a new one and reuse the rear o2 bung on the pipe to the muffler.

Sorry I cant help you with the pics, but you know your cats are bad? Did you replace the 02 sensors and still had a CEL?

to my knowledge they have 104k miles on 'em and... when i bought the truck the p0420 popped up. (125 miles from the dealer... i know right?)This is followed by the p0135 and p0136(or whatever the failing rear o2 and 'no rear-o2 voltage' is) and now it just gets the p0135.

I do have the new front and rear o2 + URD sim waiting to install... i'm mostly assuming they're shot as an excuse to buy high-flow cats that I 'know' are good.

My taco has very little get up and go as is. Seems like it's bogging, etc. i do realize buying new cats could be a potential waste, but since i've got to get up in there to replace the ~$150 worth of o2 sensors, i figure i'd just drop the extra couple hundo to get everything buttoned up so i don't have to worry about it for quite some time. i also cleaned the entire intake track incl. the MAF and did the deckplate mod... with hardly any change.

It would suck if the stock cats are still good, but i'm really leaning towards them not being.

*edit* also, my exhaust smells like they're shot...

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The rear O2 is in the right spot. Direct fit rears don't have sensor bongs.

Cats look stock. High flow cats will throw the same codes. They don't filter enough. But that's where the urd sim comes in.
