Below is a walk through of how solder in resistor so you have no CEL after CAT removal.

Can someone explain why this guy installed a capacitor and a resistor ?

Why would this setup not just work with a resistor ?

Cat Delete and DIY O2 Simulator
About two months ago I got a CEL for Low Catalytic Efficiency. I have been waiting for this to happen, it gave me a reason for cutting the cat. out. I have read on this website many times about aftermarket cats failing and having to pay some serious money for a OEM cat. Well I'd rather buy a new gun than pay $500+ for a catalytic converter for some tree hugger none sense. Also if you are going to talk about it being against the law for me to cut the cat out let me stop you right there. As long as it is safe to drive, I will configure my vehicle however I want. Now there are people who like to say the 3.4l likes some back pressure and it actually decreases low end power. Well until you show me a dyno test I do not believe you. You almost sound like those people who think the Deck Plate mod isn't worth it. If you increase air intake and better exhaust flow, you increase power.

I have a '99 4runner limited. The Deck plate mod and ISR delete are the only engine mods I have completed along with regular maintenance. I also replaced the stock exhaust with a flowmaster years ago.

    FOR THE ACTUAL WORK:

1)There are two sensors, one before the cat and one after. Unplug the sensors. I have the cali emission exhaust so I have two cats. Also remove the rubber links that connects to the exhaust and frame support, get some WD40 in their.

2)The section of exhaust pipe with the cats and sensors can be unbolted. Three bolts hold it in place to the exhaust manifold, and two bolts hold it place about half way down the car. Separating this section of pipe from the section of pipe with the muffler. I had to heat up the bolts to remove them.

3)I cut the pipe in the middle, this allowed me to remove the pipe around the frame cross members.

4)Now that I had the pipe out of the car I removed the sensors, each one had two nuts hold it in place.

5)I cut the pipe right before and after the cats

    6) $16 of exhaust pipe and couplings from O'Reillys, I welded the straight pipe in place of the cats.

7)Remember those rubber links? The support bracket on the old exhaust, I grinded the weld off removing it from the pipe and then welded it on the new straight pipe.

    ***O2 SENSOR SIMULATOR***
I ordered the following from Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8

8)I took the rear O2 sensor and carefully cut the protective wire cover. I cut the blue and white wire and soldered the resistor and capacitor just like the diagram I attached below. A lot of heat shrink, zip ties, and a good amount electrical tape you have your self an O2 sensor for $11.

9)Reinstalled the sensors, plugged them back in. Reinstalled the rubber connector to the exhaust support I relocated.

Two months now and I have no CEL. I can definitely tell the exhaust flow is better. I have not had a chance to do a MPG test because I have been driving like a mad man lately. BUT so far no adverse effects. If anything changes I will post here.

I mean why even do all that? Just use an O2 sensor spacer with inserts like this Vibrant one, or caveman it up with a spark plug defouler?
I used the Vibrant one with middle insert on my URD Power Pipe, and haven't had an issue- I installed it back in August.

Only reason I could see hacking up the wiring is if you were trying to avoid being noticed- but a visual inspection would fail catless pipes anyways.

I actually just installed the 2 anti-foulers better after watching more videos on what others had done.

Will drive vehicle for awhile to make sure light does not come back on.

The CEL just came back on today. But it is only for code P0430 now.

Can anyone tell me which downstream sensor Bank 2 means?

Is the the downstream driver side or passenger?

Its on a 2005 Prerunner V6 long bed.

(P0430 Code Mean? P0430 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)." The code warns about a problem with the catalytic converter mounted near engine bank 2 (the side of the engine opposite the number)

Bank 2 is the side with Cylinder 2 on it. That would be your driver's side.

Thanks Joe Dirt I mean Dirt digging Joe.

Ill take the driver's side apart and maybe try adding steel wool in between. I am assuming the passenger downstream the foulers worked but I will how long takes the CEL to come back on.
Knowing what bank is on what side really good

The first O2 sensor is for tuning your engine, do not remove it. The second 02 sensor is to check the CAT is mounted and working correctly. If you remove your CAT, just put O2 eliminators on the second o2 sensor.

After installing to fouler on each side still getting code for the downstream driver's side but it takes 300-400 miles for it to come on.

Of course you are going to have this code. The sensor is detecting an excess of oxygen content which a catalytic converter releases slowly over a course of time so your bank 2 sensor is a default code that it is throwing for the primary downstream sensor.

Basically the downstream sensor is sweeping voltages at the same rate of pace in which the upstream sensors are sweeping voltage.

This will happen every single time you delete a primary catalytic converter.

The resistor you installed to modify your downstream O2 sensor is probably just good enough to fall within acceptable parameters range of the PCM's mode 6 monitors, but it probably gives a slightly different reading every time so when your PCM re-checked the o2 monitors it was just outside of the allowable threshold so it threw your light back on.

Drivers side O2 keeps throwing a code need try steel wool in foulers next.
