Cb antenna mounting with roll up tonneau cover

Looking for pics and suggestions. I've been searching all day, i don't really see many people with tonneau covers running CBs. I would prefer to run it behind the driver side in the front of the bed. I may just have to fabricate something myself in the end, but post your pics please. I've been hearing a 2' firestik is no good and the 3' are better as well. Please chime in. I'll be picking up an antenna after work today. I do have the 90 degree antenna mount/bend bracket.

Anyone have input on antenna length? I like the 2' because it matched up with the roof line but i've heard some people say you'll hate yourself for getting a 2' and the 3' is better. Obviously the higher the better but how much difference is there between a 2' and a 3'?

 

I would suggest a magnet mount antenna on the roof if you want the best performance. I've used a 4' firestik and the little wilson I have now is far better. Not to mention the ease of installation, tuning and no grounds to worry about. Also no issues with a tonneau cover.

 

i don't like magnet mounts, they scratch paint

 

x2 to me scratches on the roof arent really a big deal, and if you really care that much, I'm pretty sure the scratches would buff out. But magnet mount is by far the easiest to install and take down if you need to. I started out with the plan of installing a firestik but magnet mount is the way to go. Also grounding the firestik is kinda a pain in the ass

 

I use a POS 2 foot for listening because it doesnt hit the garage and got tired of swapping them. I leave a tuneable 5' one behind the seat and throw it in if I'm fishing and want to shoot the shit. I also have a 102" whip and a couple others, I use when I want to park on a mtn and talk 40+ miles.

with the 2 footer and SWR in/near the red I can get out about 3-4 miles at night, less during the day.
