DDD what is that wire you used with the blue shield around it? Ive been looking for it but cannot find it so i can do this..also what guage is it?? Or what is best to use do ya think..ive never soldered before and have talked to a few big cb guys and one said to be careful to not creat any defects or something that will creat a loss of signal or signal strength..

Nice! I just mounted mine in the upper console area. Had to fab up mounts and delete overhead lighting, but it looks good, and isn't in the way.

It's just Cat5 Ethernet cable. It comes in any color. Sometimes called UTP or unshielded twisted pairs. There is 8 solid copper wires in the cable. It's probably not the best for this application but I had a lot of it so I tried it and it worked.

I think the wires between the mic and the circuit board should be a larger gauge but it's working as is for me.

Hey! Just seeing this thread for the first time, but I love the idea. I was trying to figure out a way to split the cb head and body for my install as well. Did you consider adding connectors to the wire ends so if you ever needed to take it out to repair you could quickly just disconnect it all?
