Anybody got the $30 Cobra from Walmart? All I need is something for the trails, and for $30 it looks pretty nice.

thats a decent CB, just make sure you purchase a good quality antenna for the CB. doesn't matter how good the CB is if the antenna is poor!

I have mine the same place as Cobra does. What I did is got some 3m velcro strips from walmart that are like 1.5in wide by 3in long and put one on my CB and one on the top part of where the ashtray normally sits. Holds it just fine.

I do have a question about wiring though. On my CB (Uniden Pro520XL) there two leads, one red and one black. I cut the wires to one of the 12v accessory plugs and wired it using that....but I never ground it. I attached black with black and red with white. Which one should I switch over to the ground (Keep black with black and have red grounded, or keep red with white and ground black?)

the red wire goes to whatever you chose to be your power source, in your case you want to tap into the accessory plug. the black negative wire needs to grounded to the chassis. find a nut or screw head under the dash somewhere that is making contact with bare metal. unscew it then place the negative wire in between the scew/nut and re-secure.

For the ashtray light, you can take the entire part that holds the ashtray, which includes the light. I just cut the wires and taped them over.

unfortunately i havent gotten to it yet. with school and other stuff going on i havent really had time to it. Plus im trying to get my headache rack finished because its taking up too much room in the garage. i just mounted the lights on it tonight then ive gotta put it on the truck and wire it in. then i gotta do the cb.
