I have the Anytone. Don't use it much anymore as people around here have gone VHF. That little radio works great as a CB, but you have to mod it.

You have to open it up and de-solder circuit OP2 on the main circuit board. Then when you use it, set it to band DE to run the German frequencies which are the same as ours.

Dox I have a ham radio license N1GYM. that radio is not really cb it is 10 meters you need a license for it. Just get a nice cobra radio and enjoy yourself. You may want to look into a amateur radio license its easy to get, just look for clubs in your area they give the test.........

No problem. If I ever finally decide to put in a cb setup, it's what I'll run. There's a board member local to me that runs one that likes it.

    Dox,

I run the Anytone Smart CB in my Tacoma. As you can see in the pics below, I have mine very nicely mounted inside of the dash where the useless pocket is for the Scoshe aftermarket stereo. Yes there is a mod that has to be performed to make it work on CB but it's a very simple mod that anyone should be able to do. Once you open the radio case bottom using a T-8 torx bit, there's two solder pads inside labeled OP1 and OP2. You simply desolder OP2. You can do this with a 30 watt soldering iron and a solder sucker. Once done, you hook up the radio, turn it on and you will be on all of the legal 40 channels. The nice thing about this radio is it is hands down the smallest CB in the world and it not only fits in the Tacoma, but also (in my case anyways) the Amber lighting matches the Tacoma factory Amber gauge lighting as well. Just make sure you run a good antenna with your radio for best performance. I recommend the Sirio line of antennas as they are head and shoulders above anything else on the market, except for maybe a 102 inch whip.

With this mod, is the output at 4 watts? The tech specs have output at 8.

Mine came out to be at 4 watts. I ended up dropping mine to two watts as I run an amp with mine.

Whenever you see a CB being sold as outputting more than 4 Watts they're talking about the speaker output. Trying to trick you.
