Im getting ready to install a CB. I always had crappy CBs and equally crappy antennas in my trucks. Having now spent as much money as I have spent on this truck, I'd like to have some nice performing CB parts installed on this truck.

At this point, I am leaning toward the Firestick antenna simply because I see it talked about the most. Is that because that's what Walmart sells, or is it actually a good brand. What other than length do I need to look at.

I am only going to be using it on highways and trails but I would like for it to wind up being a nice set up. Any ideas on parts/brands/specs/setups would be groovy.

I'd be interested in this too, or anything on installing a VHF/UHF/ham radios.

The Firestick antenna does have a lot of good reviews, I'm just not sure how to mount it.

As far as mounting goes, I bought the relentless hood mount. So far I feel good with that. I just am not certain about the electrical parts.

I have the same radio in my Amazon shopping cart right. Along with antenna and coaxial. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet

True. I guess in my mind I was thinking of a smaller radio and figured if it were built in SWR then I would tend to be larger. I'm not opposed to spending an extra few bucks to get something of quality.

The 880 is a bit larger, so it all depends on what you want and how sleek and factory you want the look to remain. That also translates into more work (usually).

Midland is just another popular CB choice.

I have the Relentless Fabrication tailgate mount with a Firestik and a Uniden PRO510XL. I wasn't too concerned with range, because I use it on trails to talk with others in a close group. My concern was mounting location, because I didn't want it banging around my windshield or cab, and I wanted the longest possible while still fitting in my garage. The setup is great on the trails, in fact I end up pulling in signals from all over and need to turn the squelch down. My only regrets are not getting one with a PA output. Just because that would be a shitload of fun.

I love my PA! Great for talking trash on the trail, or at at stop light.

Mine WILL have PA! Trail riding is my only intended use for the thing. I'm just a techy nerd on the inside and like my electronic toys to be nice.

How did you guys mount your radio inside your cab? I haven't been able to find anywhere that had a clean look to it. I use my center console for all kinds of crap so that option is out the window.

I hear you. I think you'd be happy with that radio and a Firestik. CB's are pretty basic. My build thread in my sig shows where I installed mine. I might spring for a longer mic cable though.

This won't really help because it's not really clean AND I'm a second gen, but I figured I could contribute anyways. It hasn't been an issue with any passengers yet, and ones 6'3"

I have dual 4' fire sticks on relentless hood mounts with a uniden 505 mounted in the center console. Minimal modification and everything can be removed if I want to sell the truck stock, no one would ever know. I will be tuning it this weekend:fingerscrossed:
    Parts list:
    Two fire sticks
    Two mounts
    Two heavy duty springs
    Two heavy duty studs
    Pa speaker
