Quick question. I just ordered a 3ft firestik with a fire ring stud. I used to have a wilson 1000 w/ magnet mount. It has the five foot whip. now could I also mount the wilson 1000 whip and base(the screw off coil) to my new setup. like can I wilson 1000 be used without the magnet mount?

By the right knee? That's where the gun goes. I'll let you know what I come up with. If I put it on the back of the center console, the kiddos with knock it around. The right side of the console, the wife will complain. I really want it in the cubby, but I don't think it will fit. I like the idea of getting a single din radio and throwing it in with it in the double din slot, but then I have to go get a whole new radio and I don't want to do that at this time. I use my console space and glove box. I might get away with putting it overhead, but I think that'd drive me nuts.

Maybe I'll sell it and get something smaller. :notsure:

@PirateLes @Chief Taco Yea i have a Uniden Bearcat which is similar in size to that Cobra. I put mine near my right knee as mentioned above; it was the only feasible place I could find. It works good for me, I can easily operate the radio controls & mic while driving. I dont have any problem with the radio getting in the way but it might not work for everyone

@tgriff I'll have to do some mockups, but I think that is where I want to keep my pistol mounted. Excuse the stock pic as it's not a Tacoma.

Has anyone tried to work with a car stereo shop and see if they can get it to fit in the cubby or is it just impossible? I'm guessing you'd lose the cupholders.

This is the EXACT issue I'm having. I have the 29LX as well and I love it, but it's huge and I cannot find a good place for it. I would rather not drill holes into my truck either but I'm out of options it feels like. I tried getting heavy duty Velcro that is rated for 10lbs and sticking it to the back of the console. I held for a bit, but in the sun the Velcro on the console starts to peel and eventually the radio just falls off. I tried it again by wrapping the Velcro around the sides of the console to give it more surface area to stick and it held for about a day longer before falling off... I'll be watching for suggestions!

Can you take a Wilson 1000 coil and whip from a magnet mount setup and put it on a regular cb stud, like one from firestik?

Looking at the pic of the radio vhf radio install in the bottom of the centre console. I am in the process of doing this. So it looks ok to screw the bracket into the top. Where did you cut a hole for your power and antenna leads? I had a 3/4" hole in the base of my gen 2 Tacoma, but a little uneasy on clearances on the new one.. thanks.

I cut a hole across the back of the cubby that matched up to the connectors on the CB. be warned, the Air bag controller is back there so you have to be careful how far you go. I had the center console between the seats out when i did it so I could see the back. There is also a small sensor of some kind, maybe for the key fob? back there that I couldn't move. I tried but couldn't get it disconnected.

Well, I think I'm going to go with the side of the console on the passenger's side. The wife doesn't ride in the truck that much. And I can keep my sidearm handy.

Here's my pain question. What'd you do for power? I don't like dealing with electrical jazz and especially in my daily. Last thing I need is to short something out. I thought I once read that there was a fuse box in the passenger foot well, but I've not gone upsidedown to look yet.

Is the fuse adapter for power adequate for a full sized fb radio? That seems like it'd be the best and easiest way to tackle the power issue.

    Thanks!!
