Anyone else have a bad experience with Cbi? I understand delays can happen, I just wish the company had better communication and customer service when it came to relaying the delays. Still waiting for my sliders I ordered in November.

I ordered a set of skids from them and they came wicked quick. However, I can attest that they are horrible about emails. You need to call them directly in my experience.

I also have their sliders. Good news is the sliders are bad ass tough!

Always good to call out something more specific when vendor bashing.

So the big question for yourself (not me, no skin in this game) is have they actually violated a commitment of some type, or are your expectations just different that reality?

Hopefully you'll get it all resolved.

If they had black fri sales, give them some time. 6-8 weeks

The frustration first came when I realized it would take 4 weeks to ship the sliders after I placed the order. Ok, fine, I get it, they're busy with orders (I thought they kept a larger inventory but that's my fault for assuming). The main issue I have is the lack of communication with the customer. They gave a specific December "ship date" on my sales order, and when that day passed I never received a tracking number or email saying they shipped. So I emailed, they responded saying they were delayed. How hard is it to write me an email saying "we need to post-pone the ship date to ____." Maybe the reality is, companies in general don't care to reach out anymore to customers regarding the order process and just take it for granted that we throw money at them and will wait around for a month or two and forget about it.

Don't disagree with anything you say.

I would suggest that small shops often (not always) struggle with the 'administration' side of things, more than the product development (the fun part) or the actual building for sales (boring part). Some will drown in their own success, some will promise more than they can deliver, some will have a good balance of everything.

Like I said, hopefully it gets resolved.

I waited about 6 weeks for my front bumper, (only 9 days for the rear!) from order to delivery. People on here routinely endure much much longer lead times from other vendors.
The existence of this sentence on the front bumper order page was a bit irritating, though:
Shanna at CBI is quite helpful once the customer initiates contact.
Did I mention that the product is worth the wait?

My sliders came much quicker than they projected, so I was happy about that.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I ordered the access cab sliders and the invoice said "
2nd and 3rd Gen Tacoma Bolt on Rock Sliders, Ext Cab and Double Cab,
    Short Bed (Model Years: 2005 - 2017)

Are they one size fits all? (I responded to CBI and they said, yes they will fit my model) They're still sitting on the pallet..

They're slightly different, very, very slightly. They kind of fit both gens but really they should be different.

Hmm, I'm surprised the invoice doesn't differentiate then. Thanks

Edit: Oh and what about 2nd gen access cab vs DCSB?

No difference between access and double cab short bed as far as the sliders go. The difference is between the second and third gen truck.

Great, thanks. CBI's site has you choose between the two cabs so that was my concern.

I wouldn't know why. Maybe they do build something different. Our sliders are identical between the cabs.

Welcome to the Tacoma aftermarket world.

I felt your pain when I ordered my sliders (another company). They were way late with poor comms and just had to endure it. The quality is way worth it I have to say and will still order my front bumper from them now that I know to add a few weeks to the due date.

Now I know what to expect in this market when if comes to armor. Now you do too. ;)

Your sliders will fit better on your truck than on the pallet ;)

I am very happy with my CBI rock sliders. They did take about 9 weeks to arrive, including about 9 days out to their contracted powder coater, and 9 days for shipping. I can't tell where the J bolts go, and it is difficult to install the 2 bolts that go through the part of the frame that is most forward on the truck, since its enclosed. But i used a telescoping magnet to hold the nut, and that actually worked.

They do support the weight of the truck with my hi lift jack.

Sadly this has been my exact experience with numerous companies (I've never dealt w/ CBI, so no horse in this specific race). Delays I can understand, but not being kept in the loop and being outright ignored after blowing through promised ship dates is not. Apparently communication is hard, mmm'kay.

@Blackout14 had this issue with a different company. I have no experience with CBI so no help for you on that.
