I have a 2017 Tacoma sometimes the CC will engage sometimes it won't when it does it works great when it doesn't I've got a Dent to prove it. I use it coming down our steep driveway with the snow on it. Has anyone else with this problem found out anything yet what's causing this

It took me a solid minute to realize we're talking about crawl control, not cruise control.

I was about to ask who would use cruise in the snow.

I agree with above, there's a TSB for that issue. Dealer should be able to fix it for free.

I checked the website for A TSB on my crawl problem and I couldn't find anything I guess I will have to call the dealer. If anyone with the same issue has gotten an answer for it let me know
    Thank you for your input

I am not saying you don't have a problem, but keep in mind, even when using the crawl control, the tires can still loose traction,,,, especially on slick pavement and a really steep incline/decline. Traction starts at the tire.

Are you thinking of crawl control or ABS braking? Crawl Control only works in 4lo and requires a button push. ABS braking is enabled at all times except when the rear locker is engaged (also 4lo only). ABS brakes are not 100% perfect and will fail to work in certain situations. Don’t forget to use the old fashioned brake pumping technique in those cases.

Unless you have some super extreme driveway, there is no need for crawl control (or 4lo) to get down it. Put some salt and sand on it if it’s getting sketchy.

good points! OP might not actually have CC engaged. I would imagine, since she said sometimes, this may be the case, as it's not uncommon to have to do some traveling to get 4lo to actually engage, and that's before using CC.

again, if someone is on ice or has slick pavement and less than great tires,,, there's no kind of magic that is going to overcome a lack of traction.

I don’t have crawl control, but I have an enough understanding of it that I think it would be obvious if it was engaged long before sliding down a driveway because you have to actively turn it on ahead of tlme. ABS on the other hand is passive.

    This should help https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-traction-control-modes-explained.530695/

Were you ascending or descending? 2WD? 4WD? 4WD Lo?

The OR ABS system controls traction control as well as Crawl Control.

OP (@Yvonnepamela54) were you able to go back and figure out if you’ve been trying CC while not actually in 4lo?
