Cell Phone Holder...show me yours...

I'm guessing this is an issue for many. No place for my phone except plopped precariously in one of the various cup holders; none of which are ideal locations.
I'm not a fan of attaching a magnet or anything to my phone/case so show me other ideas. I saw a cup holder mount which is intriguing but not sure on the space we have available etc.
Thanks for any ideas, I need to order one today. I spend a lot of time in my truck for work and personal use so phone calls and directions need to be easily accessible.

FWIW, I wasn't a fan of the magnet either, but decided to try it. the piece of metal is thin enough to fit between any phone and case. I have a Galaxy S9 and use the inductive charger... so I just trimmed the metal plate down to a much smaller size, and was able to place it on the phone where I liked so that when mounted, worked great... but also worked on my charger.

 

Hondo garage makes a great product that mounts on to one of the air conditioning vents and is extremely sturdy. I absolutely love mine

 

Another vote for the Un-Holey Mount from Hondo Garage and @wileydavis i skipped his phone mount as I like RAM mount stuff a lot and it’s WAY cheaper. I have the powered mount from Garmin on the way for my new Garmin InReach to go on the right side. (5rolledtacos) gets you a forum discount. Shhhhhhhh....

Oh he makes those clips to run your charging cables too. Super cheap Mods for how much awesome they bring to the table.

 

If you haven’t ordered you’re wasting time lol... this is the best phone solution for Gen 3 Tacomas period. Mostly because it gives you a 1” Ram ball in any of 4 different locations in your truck, than going from there you can basically add any holder for any device (cell, CB Mic, GPS, ext) plus i actually get better cell service with it up there due to the antenna orerntation i think.

 

Ok....pretty much sold on this combo. Is there a TW discount through Hondo Garage? If so, how exactly do I get it?

Oh you do lose partial functionality of your vent due to the design. So if you live in the middle of Death Valley or the North Pole or something aim the vents at you before you bolt it on. My OCD forced me to mount them straight and they were fine all winter here.

 

+1 for this set-up. Works great! But I mounted my X-Grip almost 180 degrees downwards so it's out of view of the windshield. It sits close to the windshield wiper lever but we never use that thing in Southern California anyways

There is also the vent trimming mod that give back the rotation of the vanes.

Mine is set exactly where my iPhone 6S sits right at the very edge of my hood from my point of view. So it literally blocks zero of my view except of the hood of course. I’m only about 5’09” and it’s set perfect for me. Could be lower if you needed it to be obviously, nice part of a RAM system, 360 degree rotation.

 

How to feel? You don’t have to feel anything it’s just a phone mount. But it’s totally kick ass, of course I’m a Hondo Fan-Boy haha.

 

Probably because that one limits control of that AC vent. That's the big reason I didn't go with that one. It's neat, but the cons outweigh the pros. I like the dash plate and ball mount I ended up with. My vent remains 100% controllable.

 

And in Austin TX, that’s probably a good thing! Lol. Though you can aim it anywhere you want, you just do that before you screw the plates down. I just wanted a solution that could be removed and or not drilled... this fit the bill for me.

Good idea. Can you turn the mount for either landscape or portrait mode?

 

Every single person who rides passenger with me hates that I have a hondo vent attachment. They can't close or manipulate the vent.
