I’ll trade you headlights, insurance wouldn’t notice right :p

Too bad, only a vehicle though and glad everyone is alright. I’m sure that’s a total, and if it was mine I’d rather it was a total despite having to try and find another.

I do collision work and that's a total . Make sure
you do not take it to there insurances"preferred
shop "or a shop they have a drp with (direct repair program) . They force there hand with what kind of repair a vehicle gets and put vehicle rental stipulations on the contract so they will want to haul ass and slap it together to avoid paying your rental. Find a Toyota dealer with a body shop not on they're program and let them know you want it to total . It would probably total at any shop though . Just trying to make sure.

I used to live in HB and California has a high hourly body labor rate also . That will help.

Always get such good info on TW, just a question about above post.

So do we always have a choice on where to take the vehicle? Doesn't have to be "insurance preferred or DRP?" I hope I never have to use it, but its good to know. Thanks in advance for info!

To each his own. It’s understandable to disagree with a color choice, but there is no need to resort to bashing. Comments like “Total chick repellent” and “ghetto Ferrari” speak volumes about your tact.

No you can fix it yourself if you wish . The insurance company can't force you into there shops . They do recommed shops though. It used to be 100% illegal for them to try and get you to go to they're shops . It is called "steering " . Now They have drp shops (direct repair program shops) that they have contracts with to get cheaper repairs.A loophole created. They make them use more used or salvaged parts to keep costs down .They also have other clauses like number of days to repair before the shop is required to pay the rental which forces there hand to repair instead of replace. All of this helps the insurance company and hurts the customer. Drp shops bring the cost and turn around time down which in turn gets less qualified "hack" techs in the door while more skilled techs with experience will go somewhere like a dealer where they get payed better and have more oem parts on hand or readily available. They can also get payed for more testing operations and have access to qualified in house mechanics if they're not themselves . Collisions (heavy hits ) are a different
beast you pretty much need to know how to do it all .. These guys below do not.

Don't go to gerber ,caliber, abra and service king .Whatever you do never go to maaco no matter what i dont care if they're offering a fix it for free day.

Ouch, thats a bummer! Glad you walked out but cant say I'm surprised a BMW was the offender in the wreck. They always seem to drive fast and like they own the road.
