Censoring language on TV.......

I think it was Thursday night my GF and I were watching Trutv. Not certain of the time but it was after 8pm. I heard the words Bitch, Pussy, and Ass, then they bleep out the words Jesus Christ. WTF is that? The sentence was Jesus Christ look at that. This world is going to shit.

I've been noticing that too.. Bleeping "God Damnit" is what i hear the most, T.V has been light on censoring "shit" I think language censorship is BS anyway, it's not like we don't know what they really said.

 

The radio station I listen to doesn't sensor 'bitch' and 'ass', but they do sensor 'smoked' in reference to drugs.

 

Silly to Censor the word "smoked." Pointless. I see it as being good for children because cursing is so much more common now as opposed to when I was a child, at least on TV. Its very difficult to know what shows will have vulgar language. Even with their ratings and all still nearly impossible. I can't guess for the life of me why the word "Pussy" wouldn't have been censored. It has no meaning that I am aware of, like Bitch is a female dog, Ass is a Donkey.

On kids channel (nickelodeon) they said doushebag on icarly. There was another pretty bad word for a kids network(I forgot)

 

It's not that they are trying to censor so nobody knows the phrase. It's because the networks and affiliates get a shitstorm of complaints from Bible-thumpers when they hear something they consider blasphemous. So they bleep out those words to keep them at bay.

With all the different avenues of media these days, censorship is pointless. It's not like in the 80s when you had 5 networks to choose your programming from and less than 25% of the population had cable. At this point in time, it's better to let networks decide their target demographics and produce competitive programming catered to them.
