Amazon is where I got mine:
    https://www.amazon.com/Tuffy-082-3-Digit-Combo-Lock/dp/B00DJ64RNS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=tuffy+lock&qid=1600143481&sr=8-1
And I do believe the holes lined up before I shortened it. I set it in place and measured, then made a template with the hole alignment. Then I bent and drilled the holes. I had to slightly enlarge one hole like 1/16”, but I think that was sloppy drilling in my starter hole as opposed to the box being off.

Did you modify it to use the 3 digit combo lock instead of a key, or were you able to order it that way?

I like your mod to shorten it... I may copy that

The combo lock was an add on. It came with a key originally. I do like it shortened. Keeps the center console a little more usable, and its a little hidden too. Not much room inside, but enough for what I wanted. I had the foam insert made for it too, so I do have to worry about anything bouncing around. There is still room enough for another Glock in there on top if I need to leave my carry piece in there as well.

Johnny, did you have to modify the side tabs? How did those connect in?
I love what you've done with this; losing that little tray was my main reason for putting off buying a console safe.
You posted this in 2020; any new insight? Any changes you would make?

This youtube installation video shows the side tabs gripping the inside left and right of the box. before I invest over $200, I'm wondering if the tabs can be used with this modification.

Boy…. My memory is good for about 2 minutes, so I don’t have the details. But the tuffy box has 2 sides that divide into 4 legs. Like this one, but the legs are on the front and back, not the sides. I couldn’t find a picture of the Tacoma one.

If you look at the bottom of those legs, you see the holes for mounting. Now, like I said, I don’t remember crap for details, so I am just making up numbers here. But let’s say those legs are 6” long, with the bottom foot being 1”, and the mounting hole centered. If I wanted to make it 2” shorter, I would measure the legs out to be 4” plus the 1” that will get bent. I’d mark it at the bend point and the 1” past that. Then bend the legs in that same 90° (I used a pair of pliers for duct work. It wasn’t that hard to bend) then drill the holes in the same location (centered in our example). The one thing I don’t think about at first is the usb. So I had to go back and cut the space between the legs for the front side (so 2” in this case). I hope this makes sense? I should have taken pictures I suppose, but I am horrible about doing that.
