with they curry 9" and all the CV and axles from RCV, this whole conversion, minus custom arms and fabrication, will be at almost $4000!

This whole project would probably cost up to $10K with most fab shops including parts, material and labor.

Yeah right try at least $15k to $20k. Steering alone for this would be $4k+

what all would go into the steering if you were to do it?

I was thinking of switching over to a steering box down the road anyways, they seem stronger.

To make a setup like this worth it a Howe rack would be the way to go, swingset would be a bit goofy with a center link setup

Gah! I have been looking for a used front diff to do this very thing! But.... no luck. So I was looking at curry. Also search around on the pirate4x4 forum. There have been quite a few discussions about doing this very thing

This is why you see so many KOH rigs going to TTB beams. $5k vs $20k. And actual performance gains of the arms is minimal.

But WAY better than a solid axle! :) I love the idea and always have. Just not ready for an engine to move back while I'm still enjoying long trips. :)

What hubs were you planning on running? Stock unit bearings? We were planning on a custom 4wd set from bms around $3500-4500

Also i think your numbers are a little off on the currie. I was quoted around $3500 for a complete front diff about 6months ago with arb locker. Maybe i should re call and check those numbers.

rcvs were right on though about $2500.

Aiming to bring top of the line suspension, at a very affordable cost. As well as helping the off-road community
this is an old ass thread... but you could use dana 44 (or even 60 for that matter) and then just run a u joint outer CV inner in the same style that solo does the taco kit.

    Let be real guys..

if i was to do this..just mid mount the engine :D haha if your making it a race truck, why not? cut open the back of the cab. fab a fire wall right behind the two front seats and put the motor back there.

okay so that would complicate things by like 103942453098456x10^234 but..would be cool..

Where's that Tacoma with the TTB under it that I've seen pictures of? If I was gonna get all crazy with changing up a 4WD tacoma that's the direction I'd be going...
