I don’t think that they were purposely taking people’s cash for the last year as a plan to go bankrupt, I think they legitimately thought they could pull through, but clearly that didn’t work. All of this is a huge bummer.

After seeing the backlash here, and talks of going to attorney general i would work on damage control for sure. Them saying they grew too quick, sure... you dont keep on taking orders and peoples money you look to solve your problems first... the idea of them taking new money to fulfill or keep afloat somehow is bizarre, bas no one heard of Bernard Madoff? And how that doesnt work even when you are intentionally doing it!!!!!!!!

That would discourage people from opening and running small businesses. Despite what you see as a negative of these laws. They are written to protect business owners.

I am sorry, then whoever it is shouldnt open a small business, taking peoples money and you not being liable for it is just bullshit. Anyways there is judgement in this life or the after. You may get away with it in this one but you aint in the next! Its a trust when you take someones money, its a responsibility.

This just sucks. I know them well enough to know they weren’t out to screw people. They aren’t malicious or nefarious like that. They were probably trying to get capital in to help float the sinking ship, but even the titanic sank because of poor design. I will miss their product and customer service in the market place, but that’s also because I had amazing experiences with them. Those of you left in the lurch, this is just awful for you and in no way meant to counter your warranted complaints. I’m just bummed all around.

I think "A HUGE BUMMER" is very understated! They have over 600 customers paid orders ! Most wont see a dime back! They knew they were in serious trouble many months ago and kept taking order after order knowing they couldnt produce the products but also knew they could keep all the cash and wipe out all the CC charges through BK Ch7! They have done this couple times in the past so they knew exactly how to proceed ! How to by time with the phony investor crap they spewed out! They used that time to file there BK paperwork that was no doubt started months ago! While still taking orders into September! So HUGE BUMMER is not appropriate in this SCANDAL !

If you're going to get religious on here. Tell me first, so I can put on my camo shorts.

For like the last month I was so close to ordering a PB, bumper. I would now be pissed had I did that. That's no reason to change the rules for people who are being honest in their business endeavors.

The Titanic wasn’t a tragedy because it sunk, it was a tragedy because regulations at the time allowed for ships to sail without enough lifeboats for all aboard. It’s similar to this in that while what is happening to Pelfrey is a shame, the true tragedy is the people who will get screwed out of their money due to the way Pelfreybilt was able to conduct their business and their bankruptcy in the final year.

I’m still giggling how I’m considered a creditor. I don’t care how nice they are, they have declared bankruptcy three times as a family now and have legitimately stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from people. No apology will clear that.

If they are so sorry then why did they delete their FB account?

Why are they continuing to use Instagram as their only means of communication if social media was creating such havoc for them?

Why is their website completely unchanged since the BK announcement 3 days ago?
To an uninformed consumer, that makes it seem like they are still fully in business especially noting their "BAJA SUMMER SALE" is still "active"?

Seems lazy at the least and pretty shady at the worst.

Another question: are they going to sell off their extra assets (multiple 4x4 vehicles, toys, etc.) to try to pay back their customers left in the cold or is it just "easier" to file Chapter 7 and let a judge sort stuff out? Their assets are listed between $500k - $1mil and their debts at less than $500k. This isn't speculation, this is in the docs that anyone here can access as public record.

I understand that there are people staying quiet because this is a legal matter now but it doesn't exactly take Sherlock Holmes to read between the lines.

Hahaha no but i am just laying out the facts religiously. At the end no matter what the laws are your morals should be at a higher standard than the laws. People have short commings for sure, not saying i am perfect. But laws should protect everyone not just one party. Thats why i said this needs to be investigated, there are a lot of speculation and the facts and truth needs to be addressed. Thats how it should be done, an investigation.

I'm still shocked about what happened both for customers and the company. I thought they were one of the ones. I lost money in a different but similar situation like a lot of you here and it sucks. Money gone and nothing in return. You get angry at the fact they still kept accepting money knowing the position they were in. I understand it's hard in their situation trying to recover and not have money but, taking orders while things are going down is what we are all angry about and is what paints them as crooks whether they are or aren't.
If they want to correct things and make it right, they should work something out and pay everyone back one by one as they can even if it takes time. That would be just and honest. Walking away with others' money, calling it bankruptcy or whatever you like, makes them thieves. Plain and simple.

Why does everyone keep saying they produced their product when they outsourced to Lasernut? What did they actually produce besides ideas and intellectual property for those ideas and designs?

First I've heard of Lasernut, they probably built the rear bumper I purchased last year.

Could Lasernut build and sell what used to be Pelfrey products to recover what ever they may have lost?

They did produce their products back when they were at their old place....well last year when I was there in person to see them churning out the stuff.

I knew that flashy website of theirs shouldn't have been trusted. They had a nice site that was easy to use.
