I have tried the instructions on other forums to change the startup image but do not see an option when inserting the flash drive. Can you change the startup image on a 2020 tacoma?

I believe I heard some 2020 owners bitching about it not being available

I can tell you this much, make SURE you use a SMALL or very low capacity flash drive and not something that has capacity of several GBs. I am talking about something that has maybe 50mg or less of capacity. I can't remember where I saw it, but this is a requirement to be able to change the images on the Entune system. I had a similar problem as no option coming up too, but then I remembered seeing somewhere that you need a very small flash drive in order to do it. I actually went to the local 99cent store, and bought a flash drive that only held 10mg. I loaded the images on there, and when I inserted it into the USB port under the radio, everything went smoothly with the install. So I would definitely try the SMALL flash drive first. I am betting that is the problem...

first did you name the files as instructed? displayoffimage and startupimage...
insert usb an touch the gear wheel then general then custom image then transfer = yes then image = Ok.
max size the screen can take is 1920X1080.
also i remember something about "is the usb formatted correctly" maybe someone can further describe that.

Another 2020 owner here. At this time that feature is unavailable to 2020 Tacomas. Might come later in an update.

I was wanting to do this when I get my truck....hopefully it gets figured out/becomes an option to customize again. It would be sweet if it stayed on just a touch longer on startup. Customizable duration time would be cool too...

They also removed the Entune App Suite because the 2020 has CarPlay and Android Auto. Boneheads!

Another 2020 Tacoma TRD Off Road owner here...

I can also confirm that you cannot (at this time) change the Display Off Image or Display Startup Image on the new Entune 3.0 head unit. I tried to get a definitive answer from Toyota's customer experience hotline, and spent about 45 minutes on hold only to be told to call back in because their tech people weren't available on Saturdays.

After going through several videos on YouTube, I came across one titled, "Toyota Entune 3.0 Head Unit Tour." In it, the presenter walks through all of the settings and gives brief explanations of each. You can see that he doesn't have the options to "Customize Display Off Image" or "Customize Startup Image" either.

I think what's confusing a lot of people (myself included) is that there are two different issues people are running into:
    1. Those that have the option available, but don't know how to use it (i.e. not formatted as FAT32, improperly named file folders, unsupported image format etc.)
    2. Those that don't have the feature at all
Most replies I've read assume the first scenario, which suggests that inserting a properly formatted USB drive will cause the options to appear (which isn't the case). I hope the additional information is useful to somebody!

I have a 2020 4Runner I purchased in August. The new head unit does not have the change image options.

I ran into this with my MIL's new RAV with the Entune 3.0 HU. I was going to surprise her with photos of the kids and it didn't work. It's such a weird feature to delete.

It's not on my 2021 Tacoma Off-Road. Why would they remove an option like this?

Has anyone said you can't do it on 2020+ models since the head unit is different?
