so what happens when you don't check your cabin air filter for like, um, 5 years? ... (oh lord)

yeah, that's what happens, something apparently tries to make a nest in it. I blame myself, ive been on tw since I got my truck and I had no idea there was even a cabin filter to keep an eye on until last monday. :smack:

also in totally unrelated news, my air conditioner blows really well now!

anyhow, posting this up here so you all can be aware that there is a cabin air filter and you should change it more times than never.

    1) mice live in your truck
    2) that yellowish fluffy stuff is insulation sourced from the inside of your truck
    3) mice chew wires

People say moth balls or dryer sheets repel them

The hardware store sells a variety of traps and poisons. Traps are better because poisons will cause them to die and stink inside your truck.

I have some glue boards, where should I stick them at? by the tires or inside the engine compartment?

I dunno it almost seems like they live inside the truck so on the floor mats I reckon. They are probably going in and out the heater vents, nesting on top of the filter, and eating food residue and wiring insulation inside the truck.

I never ever eat in there, so theres nothing for them to find. I think its prolly a field mouse that was looking for someplace warm. ive never seen any evidence of them besides this filter.

Theres always a possiblity of them being inside...Id put a glue trap under the seat. On another note when I worked for Autozone BRIEFLY, I helped change a cabin filter and I couldnt figure out why it didnt fit...on investigation with a light, either the owner or service tech didnt bother to remove the OLD filter and jammed the new one in..the current owner said the air was barely blowing even at max. I took the old messed up and the second one jammed in there and replaced with a new one. Worked great after that;)

how do they even get inside, aren't there any grates over the air intake system?

    im allergic to them.

I really don't think so. Where in the truck does Toyota install fiberglass insulation?

That insul came from nearby, not the truck.

mine has a yellow looking pad on the underside of it...otherwise maybe around the exhaust on the body or on the firewall on the inside is a possibility...
