i was going off an earlier post where there were 2 different kinds (a 4oz. and 7oz. which were basically the same thing) but that each one was per liter of fluid. i'll find the post later.

That's not an easy question to answer, because everyone has different brands they stick with.
I would suggest going with any major brand like, Mobil 1, Valvoline, Castrol, Lucas, Royal Purple etc. They should all work just fine, just make sure to pick up the right weight of oil (75-90 weight oil) and use the proper amount (3 qts).

I have the same kind of diff you have, I went with Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil, and it will work just fine for you.
    Have fun...

    BUILT, not bought...

basically yes, the only difference for each model is determining wether or not you have the limited slip diff (non-TRD SR5's, and Sports).

...and if syou do have the Limited slip, remembering to add the LSD additive.

O/R packaged trucks have a locker/open diff thus not requiring LSD additive.

Great write up! Manual says to change every 30k. I just did mine not to long ago, yes it smells bad and the longer you wait the worst it will smell coming out. I wish I saw this write up 2 months ago. But now I'm experienced, very easy to do once you do it.

Yes. Put in 3 quarts even. No need to try to put in .12 of a quart.

Manual says 3.45 to 3.55 quarts. 3.5 should be good.

Just did mine this weekend. 3q + 4oz of LSD additive in the rear, 1.1q in the transfer case and 1.6q in the front diff. Changed the plugs too.

Truck runs smoother now, I guess:)

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I have a 07 TRD 4x4, No Lsd sticker on rear. I used Valvline syntheitic 75-90 gear oil in transfer case and rear. Was that fluid ok to use. It didnt say the hypoid, but it was gl-5 approved.

That will be fine. You have the Off Road so it has a locker. No additive required. BTW, welcome to TW.
