    Hello,
I responded to one of your posts in an old thread and clicked on the link for your build thread. After reading 13 odd some pages, I am impressed, the truck looks great!

I have been driving tacos for almost 20 years and still love the way they look and perform. I used to drive in snow, ice and mud quite often with my 1995.5 and never got stuck. Driving my 2010 TRD Sport, I got stuck for the first time ever in November when leaving the hunting camp in West Virginia.

I like the front hitch idea, it seems like it sits high enough not to get buried and inoperable. What brand/power winch and tray do you use? I don't want to skimp on the power of the winch and not be able to get out of a bad situation. I probably don't need a high dollar brand because I probably will not use more than 2 twice a year.

How was the install on the receiver? I am not very mechanically inclined but I think that I can do this.

Nice fish, looks like a good time out on the beach.

    Howdy!

I appreciate the kind words. I love my truck and my plan is to pass it down to my kids (none yet) when the time comes.

I actually don't have a winch or a tray. Since I'm primarily on the beach, it's not something I've needed yet. Hopefully that will change in the coming months, I do have some plans that may allow a winch to be coming sooner than later.

The install was actually pretty tedius mostly due to the clips and tabs you have to allign to get the bumper off and on. I actually did some pretty good damage to the front fender flare piece on the bumper. I had also attempted the install after a Redskins loss so my frustration and patience we're maxed out for one day. Im no master mechanic but had i gone slower and had more pateince, it would have gone smoothly.

Any tricks to unlocking the clips and or threads. How about a good place to provide replacements? I am not rhe most patient or gentle at most times.

Did you get your reciever coated or did you spray it with something else?

We can't drive on the beaches down here but it would be a whole lot cooler if we could.

The fender clips can be found anywhere, I used some zip ties to tidy anything up I missed or broke. A flat head or some plastic trim removing tools may help.

I had mine powder coated with Mobtown, finish has help up great so far.

Installed the Tech Deck the other night, finally got some final parts to mount up the iPad.

Nice and solid! I'm road tripping to DC tomorrow so I'll get some seat time with the new setup then.

Sup SICUNIT!? Hey man, what are your thoughts on the performance of your Tall/Skinny's on the Hatteras beaches? Also where'd you get your rod/cooler rack? I've got one on my Jeep but will be needing to get something for the Taco that will hold a bigger cooler and hopefully a bucket and maybe even a bait cooler.

    Yo yo!!

I actually haven't had a single problem with the skinnies in NC or VA beaches. I air down to 20 Everytime and they float over the sand just fine.

My rack was bought second hand off of CL, and then I had a local welder fix the receiver part as it had a riser built it which was too much height with the Mobtown hitch.

Plans are already in motion for an April fishing/camping trip to Cape Lookout again. The more tacos, the better!

Dang that's a hike. Ya'll catch any fish down that way? I've never been south of Ocracoke.

We only got one good day to fish on the fall trip to Cape Lookout.

    IMG_20181029_083725.jpg

We used to fish Hatteras and Buxton but we like the camping aspect of Cape Lookout and it produced this fall considering the weather we had.

That was miserable to say the least. We should have put a fake mustache on my drum to give it that extra 1/2" for keeping.

Not too shabby! I’ve never pulled more than a puppy out of the surf. Every year I say I’m going down when the big reds run in the fall. And every year I never make it. Maybe this will be the year.
